Deontay Wilder's windmill combinations, why is it so successful?

Was impressed with his reaction time. But still think hes packing glass in that big chin of his.

He was buzzed twice right at the bell in 2 rounds.

His windmill combinations actually prevented him from getting a knockdown in the 2nd round with Stiverne.

It was a nice straight 1,2 combo that initially led to Stiverne being hurt. He then went into windmill mode, squared up and flapped around like some drunk in a bar fight. Because he was squared up, when Stiverne grabbed him he was easily pushed back and down, if he was standing side on he would have had the stance and balance to not be pushed off balance and down. He would have simply taken a step back allowing Stiverne to fall and he would have gotten a knockdown.

Wilder much like Fury looks good when he sticks to proper technique, when he abandons it he looks like a novice, makes mistakes and is vulnerable.

seems to me he's pretty good at recognizing when to unleash the barrage, and then once he steps on the gas, he's relentless.

    Level of opposition.

Those windmills are going to get him KO'd eventually.

When he actually boxes he's sharp and accurate, and he'd be much more effective if he picked his punches when he has his opponent hurt rather than wailing away wasteful punches (A lot of his 'windmill' punches straight missed the target). A few sharp straight punches in place of the windmills would have had Stiverne finished off imo.

Unless he fights Klits, I'll make that bet with you. I'll bet you that he destroys Fury.

Fury doesn't have the power to trouble Wilder. Wilder has a better win than Fury does now also.

There's plenty of talk going on of his KO'ing Wlad as well. It's madness

Exactly. Wilder is STILL very vulnerable. And Fury has fought better fighters overall.

This said, Fury is also very vulnerable. Don't forget he was decked by a featherfisted cruiser.

Basically, this fight is all about whoever lands the first solid shot on the other's fragile mandible.
