We have to go back to the amateurs...with few months of boxing training under Wilder belt to see him lose, that's how great he is...its always the case with Great pros...

Lets look in their amateur days...
Lets distract of ourselves of the current dystopian reign over us...
Lets look at his infantile stage, when he was still a vulnerable human...

Ortiz does have flaws, even before he looked lackluster vs Allen and Scott I said his footwork looked suspect and we hadn't seen him in with a true quality super heavy or a mover.

But I do believe Ortiz is a genuine top 5 heavyweight. I think he beats Povetkin, Parker and crushes Whyte. Joshua beats him, a fit Fury does too. Wilder can out point him if Wilder doesn't do anything stupid which you can't rule out as Wilder has made some laughable mistakes in the ring, seeing him rocked by C level guys and even throwing himself onto the canvas because he's forgotten basic things like he needs his feet to be on the canvas before throwing a punch.

You can't expect Wilder fans to be consistent in their criticism. If they were rational and non biased they wouldn't be Wilder fans in the first place. Half of them are likely only fans because they dislike another heavyweight and want him to KO them. Because seriously how can anyone take Wilder seriously, his resume is terrible for a supposed world champion, his boxing at times looks like he's never stepped in the ring before.

But if Wilder does beat him, you have to take Wilder seriously and as a threat to anyone in the division. He might look like a joke in the ring with his windmills, stupid dances post win, throwing himself to the canvas trying to hit guys etc but between all the insanity there clearly is a decent fighter there if he can beat someone like Ortiz.

How many top 10 HWs have Wilder and Ortiz beaten between them? Two? It's outright nuts to make a case that the winner of the fight becomes the #1 Heavyweight.

Debatable that they even fought 2. With hindsight Stiverne was never top 10, he only ever beat Arreola who was never top 10 material. Jennings might be another top 20 fighter, he looked good vs Wlad, but Wlad clearly wasn't the fighter he was. Maybe Jennings can come back with another good win, he beat Szpilka and Perez but needs a better win than that to be regarded as top 10 now.

It's pretty nuts that Wilder and Ortiz have been pro's basically twice as long as Parker and Joshua but can't match their quality or depth of opposition. It's pretty clear the new gen of fighters in Parker and Joshua had a lot more self belief and a lot more desire to step up. Maybe that had something to do with the Klitschko's but even then they could of stepped up much earlier against other fighters other than the Klitschko's.

If Wilder knocks Ortiz out cold I’d agree with you. It all depends on the quality of the victory.

The fight with Ortiz will be no picnic for Wilder, victorious or not.

    100% irrefutable.

oritz's win alone is worth more than parker's win over fury, or joshua's win over klitschko
murdering szpilka, washington, olympic gold medallist audley harrison and hw king arreola are just the icing on the cake.

If Ortiz knocks out Wilder will MVC become a fanboy and declare Ortiz #1? I have my doubts.

Very unlikely nobody can KO the current version of Ortiz, Wilder can win a decision & possibly soften him for a KO in rematch. 12 rounds with Wilder will soften Ortiz enough, that is about it, only way Wilder can KO Ortiz is by committing to on all out assault, which will be unwise because that will play into Ortiz main game.

If Wilder wins by KO it will be very dramatic, but very high risk

He will need rematch Dustin Nicholls and Harold Sconiers following an Ortiz win, but after those three wins, his position as ESPNs number p4p list is a lock...

They will also be placing above Ali, Liston and Tyson as the GOAT at HW.

Ortiz looked old, slow, stiff in his last fight. Even if Wilder beats him, that win won't mean much because of that, albeit it will be better than beating that useless fat penguin Stiverne in the rematch.

Let's not forget that Ortiz dropped Malik-on-the-run multiple times, the cards were like 120-78. Also Dave Allen is the same age as Ortiz's grandson, of course he took it easy on him.

Beating Ortiz means that Wilder has a place at the top table and we can actually judge if he is any good or not. Wilder vs somebody decent should of happened 20 fights ago.

Sorry but Wilder has earned his belt. It's Joshua who hasn't earned either belt and when you trace the lineage back you see how pathetic a trinket holder Joshua is.
