Dereck Chisora the 21st Century Randy Turpin?

Del Boy has got a punchers chance and lines himself up for a shot at Haye or Harrison regardless...:yep He has a couple of decent paydays ahead...:deal

 

I don't see it. Wlad has time to prepare properly for this fight, when Robinson lost to Turpin he was on a "line 'em up, knock 'em down" tour of European nightlife that I think caught up with him mentally and physically.

I just think that Turpin was Robinsons kryptonite in some respects as shown by the fact that he was winning the rematch until the spectacular ko and Robinson never pursued any further matches with Robinson.

Sometimes great fighters have them with Ali it was Norton

 

I'd be stunned if Warren has let one of his men sign such a contract. There must be a clause or a loophole somewhere. He knows that if Del does this then a fight with Haye/Harrison makes more money for him as well. But maybe he took the contract just expecting Del to put in a brave, hard fought performance and can put it down to experience and come back as a future champ.

Call me crazy but I actually think Chisora will do this. I genuinely believe it's meant to happen.

Yep, you'd think a third fight was a natural. The second fight was apparently very close, Robinson was coming on and had plenty of rounds left to make up the point or 2 he was down (although he was cut IIRC?).

Ali-Norton is a good comparision.

If Vlad drinks every drop of alcohol, shags every prostitute, and visits every nightclub in Europe, as preparation for the fight, then sure Chisora will stand a chance.

I don't really see the comparison though, apart from the underdog status. Chisora is no Turpin, and Vlad is most definitely no Sugar Ray. There appear to be no similarities in fighting style, and while Robinson is an American and Turpin a British fighter, Vlad is from the Ukraine and wasn't Chisora born in Zimbabwe or something? Where is the comparison exactly?

 

IIRC Robinson was cut badly with a potentially fight ending cut when the scores where even some had Turpin ahead. Then he pulled out the ko

Turpin though a good fighter was not a great fighter but he had the style that seemed to bamboozle Robinson.

I doubt that chisora however posses that same anomalous style that Wlad wil not be able to deal with

 

I've seen interviews with people from Turpins corner and they have said he was winning, but me wasn't. He was way behind on all the scorecards when the stoppage came

 

I'm sure I read that Turpin was stopped with a few seconds left in the round - if he'd gone down the bell would have sounded, he could have recovered and Sugar Ray's cut was so bad that he would almost certainly have not been allowed to carry on.

I remember Bert Sugar saying the the commentator in Robinson-Turpin II said that Robinson suffered a "small cut" running from over his eye down to his knee.

Bert exaggerates sometimes though.
