Ahhhh, yes - I'm familiar with old Jono - just didn't recognize him from the back/flank of his head.

    Round 7

Smith is bouncing in place out in front of Moises, then coming in with eye-level lead rights and finishing up with hooks on either side of the body while bowing under Moises' jab and slow drawbridge rights. BIG left hook by Smith, hurting Moises.

    10-9 Smith

    70-63 Smith

First to ever break down Moises and stop him would be quite a statement.

He lasted against some bright names: Terry Flannigan, Craig Evans, John Quigley, Stephen Foster. Not all huge punchers necessarily but still.

    Round 8

Smith is circling wide around Moises and popping in with lead rights by themselves sometimes without followup, getting reckless. Moises is timing him with clubbing rights, then punching in bunches when Smith ducks in to press against him and rest. NICE uppercut on the inside by Moises, stunning Smith and driving him away.

    10-9 Moises

    79-73 Smith

Thaxton was a tough tough fighter back in the day. He had alot of heart and a bit of pop too. Caused Hatton all he could handle when they fought.
Back to the fight, Moises has a very good chin, he reminds me of the prison guys in Fight Night Champion.

Smith doesn't like being charged, he isn't great at fighting going backwards and doesn't hold when he needs too. Against a better fighter, that could cause him to be caught cleanly.

Except for the 1st, you can't even make a case for Moises before the eighth.

He needs a KO...and only has two of them in fifteen outings...

    Round 9

Smith is ducking the jabs and vigorously forked out straight rights of Moises and coming up with fully turned over left hooks up on his toes. Some fast and furry exchanges, and they circle apart warily. Lead right to the body by Smith. Moises is grinning at him, swinging his left arm low and looking to club down with his right when Smith comes in. Smith darts in and hits the body but Moises catches him with a partially scoring right on the way out and chases him to the ropes, lashing his arms down across his back as Smith bends over.

10-9 Smith, very close and could be argued for Moises.

    89-82 Smith

And I'm afraid he breaks an arm or something when he actually lands something big.
Maybe we'll see him as a light heavy at the end of his career.

A tenth round KO by the .500 man would be so dramatic and make for such a nice appetizer for the rest of the card - but obviously would be devastating for Mitchell's career prospects. :!:

I thought Moises won the second round. But since then some rounds have been "close" but clearly Smith was shading them, and has won most rounds fairly easily. It's good to see him in a test like this.

    Round 10

Smith is jabbing and parrying as they step around each other in low gear at mid-range. QUICK right hand by Smith, crunching into Moises' face and jolting him, but he smirks condescendingly and doesn't take a step back. Clinch. Moises spanks Smith just above the fringe of his leopard trim...kinky. Very scrappy last minute; Moises hurtling spears over Smith's back as Smith hunkers down very low and puts together high-flying rights and left hooks aimed up at Moises' chin.

    10-9 Smith

    99-91 Smith
