Ryder big last round, but could be too little too late

    I have it 6-5-1 to Saunders, 115-114

Hard to see what way the official cards will go

    I gave Ryder the 11th & 12th.

I think BJS was too active in some of the middle and late rounds while Ryder's own offense was a little too muted, but this was a close, tough fight.

Regardless of who loses (unless we get a draw), neither man's stock should drop.

Round 12: Saunders seems overcome with fatigue, and Ryder takes advantage by ripping hooks downstairs and uppercuts to the head. BJS wavers on a couple of occasions, but keeps his feet as the round ends.

115-113 BJS, but some of the rounds were very close.

Good cards, good fight. Could have went either way but Saunders may just have done enough to edge it.

No complaints for me on any count- the decision and scores were fitting, and it was an excellent fight.

Ryder's stock certainly shouldn't go down after this result.

So...Ryder vs. Blackwell for the right to rematch Saunders?

They both seemingly did well enough to deserve one, even having only seen the championship rounds from this one, plus glimpses of a few other random moments here and there.

(for those who didn't know, Blackwell lost a controversial decision to Max Bursak in Kharkov, Ukraine several hours ago. He scored the only knockdown with a right cross and gave Bursak swelling on both eyes but reportedly got robbed and denied the Euro title, and is now fixing his sights back on an eliminator for Saunders' British...)

In the end close, but no argument with BJS getting the UD. Mighta had the Draw or even a Ryder SD win, but sure as hell ain't complaining 'bout it. Bjs is solid, skilled but not massively entertaining IMO. Ryder showed some decent skill and speed but ultimately didn't really show enough over the full distance.

That said, it was best fight of a pretty poor night for me. Sometimes domestic cards can be some of the best. Not so much tonight, however.

Anyhows, night fellas. Gotta be up with the Kids in the am, and I'm going to feel bad enough already.:good

I can see a Saunders-Ryder rematch. Judging by FW's promotional record he won't rush Saunders into world level, and he is still young and could learn from fighting Ryder again. As for Ryder, he is good defensively but didn't do enough offensively, and although he was walking Saunders down, there was never the impression that he was in trouble or under big pressure. Ryder has a somewhat unusual style: a Proska/Mayweather hybrid

Did you mean to plug in Blackwell's name for the last few sentences? :huh
