If anyone down at UK domestic level can, he is pretty much the last bastion. If Saunders gets by this sentinel, having already cleaned out the other young talents (Blackwell, O'Sullivan) along with tough vets like Hall and Pryce - he is officially Euro level. :yep :partya

    Official cards:

The referee scores the contest 96-95 to Mitchell Smith.

The score-cards were stupidly close! Are we going to get some bad robberies tonight? This could bode badly for Gavin and also BJS, who are counter punchers like Mitchell Smith. I'd have it 98-92 or 99-91 to Smith.

Lithuanian or Kenyan refs shouldn't be scoring, either.

THREE JUDGES. TEN POINT MUST SYSTEM. CLEAN EFFECTING PUNCHING, EFFECTIVE AGGRESSION, RING GENERALSHIP AND DEFENSE.

Is that really so hard, to adapt uniformly across earth? :-(

I'll watch with interest later in that case. Billy seems like a tough guy to beat for other domestic level guys.

And no CJ Ross type judges allowed within 200 yards of a boxing ring :bart

What is weird is that there weren't any compubox numbers for punches landed and then a decision like that, which the pundits seemed to wipe under the carpet.

At least it'll be a wake up call for Mitchell Smith to not get lazy or leave anything to chance. At times he waited a bit too long and got caught, and I think that might have catched the eye of the judges.

The most impressive accomplishment for Ryder thus far is beating up middleweight champion of Ireland - and former amateur star - Eamonn O'Kane. Of course, O'Kane is seen as somewhat of a disappointment since turning pro after he drastically altered his style and forgot about defense altogether, but he did just overcome teak-tough Anthony Fitzgerald (the unheralded Dubliner who damn near upset Andy Lee last winter) in a north versus south all-mick war.

It was an impressive result, especially since Ryder dominated O'Kane, but it's absolutely nothing I wouldn't expect Saunders to do without breaking a sweat.

He automatically wins for having Cotton Eye Joe as his entrance music. Game over.

So it has been written; so it shall be done.

(we need that "heed the IB" emoticon added on the official gallery for times like this...)

I have an explanation for this score by the way.

Maybe the ref mixed up the names too in the first couple of rounds like IB, and couldn't change his official scoring anymore so decided to go with it :D
