he should have been more active and should be fighting top britsh fighters by now the only good victory he has is a win over sam sexton
He's got himself well known now so i'd expect a lot more in the next year or so. I think your being a bit harsh.....he's only fought 10 times-what would you honestly expect?
Tyson Fury is going about it a much better way. Only pro for 6 months and already probably more well known and much more active. Have a look at this: http://www.google.com/trends?q=derek+chisora%2C+tyson+fury&ctab=0&geo=all&date=ytd&sort=1 Google trends show what people have been searching for. Chisora's name only appears when Tyson was talking about him! Also, Chisora only has 9 fights as far as I'm concerned. Facing Paul Butlin for the second time when there is no reason to do so cannot teach you anything new at the stage he is at! Especially not if you get yourself banned...
I'd be worried if people weren't speaking about me when i was properly established. 10 Fights in is nothing. Tyson Fury has been very impressive with the way he's went about things but we will find out in his next 3 fights if its the best way.
Early on in a fighter's career these repeat matches can provide important edvidence of progress. If, for example, A has beaten B on points after 6 but then beats him in 4 over 8 then we see progress. Chisora may not have proved anything by fighting Butlin again but his his team would have been able to see subtle changes.
I like Chisora, he looks like a gay Mr T which is a bonus to British boxing. I watched the odd fight of his and he usually impresses when he wants to but seems to lack the desire to do that little bit more. Good luck to te guy and hopefully when his suspension is over he can go onto good fights against Williams, Sexton and Rogan.
I suppose that is a possibility. But the opportunity cost of taking a fight with someone you have already beaten clearly is just too much to make it worthwhile. Both Derek, and his coaches/management, would probably have benefited much more by facing someone who provided a new challenge (tall southpaw, slick counter-puncher etc..). If I was a pro boxer I would rather have practical evidence of progress in my resume, i.e. fights against a wide range of opponents and styles. Chisora v Butlin II still seems like a waste to me.
He's hardly doing bad if he's only been a pro 2 years. 10 fights against the kind of opposition you'd expect for most fighters and he was supposed to fight for the British title. Don't let how much of a **** he is alter reality.
He hasn't been doing 'badly' per se. But he's not exactly impressive. Fury has probably faced slightly better opposition, and done it within six months and in a far more impressive fashion. H2H Fury smashes him IMO. I hope so as well, because Chisora is gobby AND unlikeable, which is not a good combination.
ALSO! Whilst is Chisora is not a big HW by any means, you only have to watch Banks against Butlin (A CW by all means) to see how he COULD have been dealt with. Maybe Chisora should fight Banks? Wouldn't go past a few rounds IMO, and I don't rate Banks that highly at all.
Well he should have been European champ but was robbed against Helinus. Hes moved onto bigger and better opposition quicker than either Price or Fury so hats off to him.
