That version of Chisora was prime. Certainly must be better than current Chisora. Kabayel fought a "worse version" of Zhang but did way better than Parker

Being game isn't the same as being good. He has lost to everyone who was somebody, so he had his chance. Talk about molding their career. He strung together winning streak against fringe opponents and now he "earned" a title shot.

Theres truth to the end here. But that ship has sorta sailed. Also while everyone else is too far in the other direction I don't think Chisoras kind of SOS is on the table for a non champion. Fighters can take more challenges but they aren't fighting top guys after losing over and over. And theres the thing most fighters couldn't do Chisoras SOS if they tried cause at some point they'd stop getting the oppurtunities. Its a two way system here. Not just the fighters.

Fighters get punished terribly for every single loss. The point I'm making isn't that Chisora is bad but how terribly unfair this is.

Sure, on paper it's a better Chisora than current... In reality probably less motivated, but still.

The problem is one good win, then six years of time wasting, then starting to fight again - that win lost value in terms of telling us where Kabayel is now (the same as Fury's Wlad win told us little about how good he'd be against Seferi or Pianeta.. in other words, a good historic win tells you potential, not form.

Yes, he did better than Parker (without as glowing a commendation on his chin as Parker earned) - it's just slightly asterisked by Zhang being at the kind of age where "shot overnight" just happens... That win will age better if Zhang comes back and KO's someone remotely decent.

I need this to happen and have Chisora win. I don't care if he has to use super soldier PEDs, become cybernetically enhanced or be blessed by the virgin Mary - if it happens, he has to win and throw this boxing timeline into disarray. I'd love to see Turki and Usyk's face if he did.

Yeah thats why I said he was lucky, any other time and his recent wins wouldn't put him in title position. Its only because of the state of the division atm.

But I'm saying he made his own luck to a certain extent by taking all comers he increased his chances of getting in the right place at the right time.

In hind sight this is somewhat good news because now we should be getting Usyk vs Parker.

Great posting and i agree . Parker is even more prooven and he of course also deserves a shot . In fact both deserve it , both want to fight and its a shame usyk is sitting on his belts instead facing the sporting challange .

People refuse to see the talent level at hw, when this guy is still contending for titles. They can’t get rid of him cause most are at a similar level.

    All agreed, squire.

And even to all the the folk who most certainly don't... or those that are rationally in-between...;)

They've all felt and been compelled to invest time into this Chisora thread........pos or neg.

    Chisora gets people talking!.

    He fills stadiums, too..

Hes a favorite of the boxing establishment. Given the amount of losses Chisora had there were many oppurtunties to "get rid of him". But this was the first oppurtunity to make him a mandatory.

Indeed. He might not be the best in the world but when it comes to being a warrior he's right up there with the best of them and he always comes to fight and give it his all. Hence why he fills stadiums, squire.

There have been far worse contenders and title challengers than Chisora in every era, including the so called golden ones back in the good old days. Far far worse so I guess those eras stink too?

Agreed, I think people may be looking back with rose tinted glasses and glossing over some of the fighters who got title shots back in the day. The fact is Derek has some decent wins but people underrate him due to his age and his losses, a lot of which were very close. Take another contender and put them in the same fights and few would have a better record especially with any close fights going against them.
