Another now versus 80's match up. Chisora v unbeaten Biggs on the way up ( or even Biggs from the Bowe fight.)
Chisora. Biggs at his best had good footwork and a good jab, but couldn't put a dent in a marshmallow. As soon as Chisora feels no power coming from Biggs Chisora will start looking for the knockout blow and he'll find it.
A draw after Chisora wins the second half. It’s basically the same type of match as Chisora’s fight with Malik Scott.
This goes the distance surely. Biggs by UD , but makes harder work off it than he should. Comes down of his toes after 3 or 4 rounds and gets into a brawl . Biggs edges it but looks bashed about and maybe cut by the end of the fight. Exactly the kind of fight which led to the Duva's losing patience with him and cashing him in against Tyson. No way Chisora knocks him out. 15-0 Biggs went 7 rounds with prime Tyson and took everything Mike could throw at him. Chisora wouldn't land 10% of what Mike landed. Biggs should be able to beat him. I don't think Chisora is better than Tillis,Snipes, Bey etc, whom Biggs beat. Some may disagree.
I like Chisora, but he's not the biggest puncher. He's strong, but his punches tend to lack a bit of snap to get the KO. He can get decent power with his overhand punches, but that rarely land. He'd started throwing them more sideways, which seems more effective, but I think he's also past his best, his workrate in earlier fights was much better than now.
I would lean towards a Biggs decision...but not with major confidence. I do think at his best he finishes this on his feet and takes a close decision.
Yes, I always think Biggs was better than given credit for, he seems to get a bad rap. In his prime he only lost to ATG'S or unbeaten fighters who were at their peak. There was no in between in his career at the top end, he was either beating B level guys or losing to ATG's or unbeaten guys who were on the up.
Biggs should be able to pull this off in a competitive fight where he starts out by sweeping the early rounds and by the time he gets towards the end he's limping across the finish line with a thin UD Victory happy to still be upright. In all fairness, Biggs was a pretty skilled fighter; lets not forget he actually beat Lennox Lewis in the 1984 Olympic quarterfinals. Thing was, he wasn't without issue; he'd start off on his toes flicking the jab and using great lateral movement. Then he'd tire out by the 3rd or 4th round and start sitting on his punches flat footed. Trouble was that he lacked punching power. And he didn't even need 1 punch KO power; just enough to create a real deterrent. Probably would have been the difference maker in his fight with Bowe, where he almost couldn't miss with this jab.
Biggs win's this imo .I'll say by a decision .He had a lovely jab i ll say that and that's what gives him the win.
