Who wins this matchup? I don’t believe Ruiz’s holding tactics would work in this matchup as Chisora is stronger and Ruiz would be forced back and he wasn’t exactly the best off the back foot catching opponents coming in
In a fair fight - where the RULES of boxing are enforced against Ruiz - he loses against decent fighters every time. Even today's ancient Chisora beats him, a few years ago he annihilates that mediocre cheater. Any time this cheater comes up, it should noted that Ruiz only "won" fights against decent fighters by breaking the RULES against excessive holding. And, in several fights by blatantly overacting to draw bogus low blow calls to get crucial point deductions (Thunder, Holyfield II) or a bogus DQ (Johnson). His entire career against world class opposition is utterly fraudulent. Without Don King, he's a regional beltholder, at best. People should be as upset - if not moreso - at these forms of cheating! And Ruiz is the worst ever practitioner of this, a glorified clubfighter who - if it weren't for shenanigans inside the ring and corruption outside of it - would be best remembered for getting starched by David Tua in 19 seconds.
A lot would depend on the officiating. If the fight was scored fairly, then Chisorah has a very good chance. As it would probably have been scored, Ruiz would have taken the decision.
Poor Chisora is desperately trying to give the fans their money's worth with combinations upstairs and downstairs, applying pressure, and digging his heels in grunting whenever nailed. But Ruiz covers up, jabs, does under hook clinches, leans, or bear hugs at every opportunity. Eventually, Mills Lane takes a point from Ruiz in the 12th and that is the final nail in the coffin as Chisora was already up 6 rounds to 4, 1 round even, but looked pretty bad and frustrated the whole time. Chisora on points in one of the ugliest fights of all time. Everyone, especially the judges breathes a sigh of relief when it's over.
