If you are going to throw Gerald Washington in there, then might as well mention Malic Scott. At the time, the Scott fight was a big deal and another ridiculously fight that Chisora took.

His best wins were probably the fights he won as the underdog: Scott, Takam, Pulev 2, Joyce, Wallin. Also could/should have got something against Helenius, Whyte 1 and Parker 1.

Chisora has one of the toughest HW resumes ever in terms of who he fought.

Chisora should be living proof to guys today that it isn’t the 0 that matters. It’s being in good fights, showing up ready to throw down.

Holyfield did the same thing back in his day. While obviously better and accomplishing more, Holyfield still did lose plenty of big fights, yet remained a box office draw because he was fun to watch. Fans knew if they paid to see him, they’d get their moneys worth win or lose.

 

Del knew he was never winning a title so elected to fight anyone for the right money

As a boxer with no direction I'm not sure why this gets so much praise

It was his only way to earn good money

 

Gets the respect he's due, for the most part.

There are plenty of fighters who get temporarily hyped as contenders who couldn't hold a candle.

 

You don’t get it? The sport is filled with fighters with more talent and resources at their disposal than someone like Chisora.

Yet he fights the fights, has won several of them, and has really been a huge over achiever. The other element of this is the several times he seemed to be slipping into obscurity, to get a big win and secure himself
back into the top 10-15!

I feel like that is worthy of praise.

For contrast, Itauma is currently getting praised for getting stopped!

Thats a fair take and I do see your point.

I’m just saying in the world of pro boxing, the contrast to what we often see makes it praise worthy, and the resilience to go through MANY career downs and still stay relevant…..by fighting, not by promotion.

 

I would also add Carlos Takam who he was an underdog against and Malik Scott when Malik was 35-0 also and most importantly former prospect or the year and ginger of the year David Price who had just stopped Dave Allen who was on his best run
