Not as impressed as I thought I would be. He might have even lost against Jack Culcay and now im even more convinced Canelo beats Jacobs pretty easily even though I'll be rooting for the Miracle Man.

He definitely gets a bit hyped by some. He's good, but I haven't seen anything in particular that would have me believe he's special.

In a weak division he would be a champion easy. In a stacked division hes thw guy you have to get past to prove you are world level. He's hyped exactly how he's supposed to be hyped. People downplay fighters like Derevy who are clearly skilled simply because they don't hold a belt. I don't think theres much difference between Derevy and say.. Porter, who struggled against Ugas.

I wasn't impressed with what I've seen the last two outings. Guys on here were talking like he was the second coming of the top level Eastern Euro boxer. Some even said he would beat Jacobs. He's not. He's a solid top 10 guy. He can be a bit rugged at times, but I see nothing in him that Golovkin wouldn't have thoroughly beaten the **** out of.

You're that insecure about your man-crush that you can't bear to see him share the spotlight with any fellow Ukrainians?

You people are underating Culcay, who won a gold medal at Milan 2009 World championships as an amateur. He has faced world level competition like Sulecki, Andrade and SD and he has always been really competitive, if he had chosen the easy path he could have become world champ, he is levels above Beefy, Munguia or Sadam Ali

Not a hype job; he's very good. But yeah, he doesn't beat Golovkin or Canelo.

I agree that Culcay has routinely been sold short here. The men he's lost to all knew they were in a fight. He's not some hypejob that gets blown out, and dropping rounds to him doesn't mean the other guy's been exposed. With better timing, he could've won a title.

He's also the only fighter to legitimately beat Dennis Hogan who many feel was robbed last night against WBO champ Munguia

Bingo. If a dude is legitimately taking rounds off of SD, Andrade, and Sulecki, he can fight. That doesn't happen by accident. As Serge also pointed out, he had a much easier night's work with Hogan than the dude currently holding a title did.

He was overhyped. But, at the the same time, Jack Culcay is an underrated boxer.
