Next Saturday: Derric Rossy, a 30-10 journeyman, will fight former WBC Heavyweight Champion Bermane Stiverne in a 10-rounder in Las Vegas.

Rossy defeated Akhror Muralimov (16-0) this year but lost a decision to prospect Trevor Bryan (15-0). Rossy went down in the first round.

In 2014, Rossy scored a win over prospect Joe Hanks and was robbed of a draw/win against IBF mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov.

Rossy is facing #4 WBC ranked Bermane Stiverne this Saturday and is ready for an upset. Not only to defeat Stiverne, but also to have a shot at Deontay Wilder. Rossy claimed that he would enter the top-15 of WBC if he beats Stiverne, and qualifies himself for a potential title shot at Deontay Wilder. According to Rossy himself, he took the Stiverne fight for limited money but he will be granted a shot at the WBC title on January 16, when Wilder makes another voluntary defense.

Rossy's plan for this fight will be boxing from the outside and try to outwork and outland Stiverne with his jab and uppercut.

Rossy is really really good, one of the top players in the game right now.

So if Stiverne wins, Wilder is willing and ready to rematch him? I seriously doubt it....

Rossy was not robbed of a win vs Glazkov. Maybe a draw- but Rossy faded badly down the stretch. I think I had it 6-4 Glazkov. It was just that one scorecard had it 9-1 or 8-2 in his favor which was a joke. Rossy could of won, he clearly looked like the better fighter through the first 4 rounds but his stamina betrayed him.
If Rossy defeats Stiverne He would be an acceptable opponent.

So the WBC just doesn't care about regaining its credibility in the HW division, huh?

They've been at rock bottom since Arreola vs. Stiverne I (an FNF level match) was made a final eliminator and II a world title bout.

Stiverne vs. Rossy in an eliminator to most likely set up a Wilder vs. Stiverne rematch isn't going to help them claw their way up the pit and back to respectability. I'd say Don Sulaiman was rolling in his grave but honestly this is par for the course and following the basic trajectory his org had been headed for the last several years he was heading it up.

Sanctioning bodies are in a competition to see which one the people can care less about.

    They're digging their own grave

...and, most significantly, they are giving PBC a strong foothold...

It is really sad that people including me think this is an entirely possible scenario. :-(

Can you elaborate on this. Not saying I disagree at all, I think you may be right.

Every time an org makes themselves look bad it will drive casuals to PBC's already more palatable and mainstream format (reminiscent of UFC and pro wrestling shows)

It used to not matter what the alphabets did because they were, though not a monopoly in a true sense being fractured as they are, collectively without alternative. People might start recognizing the proprietary belts of PBC as legitimate (the way the Ring Mag belt for a time was considered as legit as the major or belts, or even more) and dismissing traditional lineages as too messed up to bother following.

Its a paper title anyway, all the belt orgs do what they want, and in the end boxing looses more credibility as a sport

I actually like the "concept" of PBC essentially becoming a monopoly for the top boxers, much like how UFC has become for MMA.

To do this however, the PBC needs to sign the top guys.

At some point, someone has to do it boxing, whether its the PBC or someone else.

No other sport has multiple world governing bodies in the way boxing has. Imagine if there was 4 different FIFAs or 4 different NBA equivalents.
Everyone would think its a joke.
