Scenario 1: prime Chisora Scenario 2: current old Chisora Bonus Round: hypothetical Roy Jones Jr vs Toney Bellew at cruiserweight Who wins
RJJ would run rings around Chisora. Chisora would be a perfect opponent like John Ruiz was. RJJ would get smashed by Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, and Lennox Lewis. Lose a decision versus Holyfield or Moorer.
90% chance Jones wins, 10% chance prime Chisora catches his fragile jaw and knocks him out If Chisora caught Jones glass jaw it'd be over. But Chisora could take Jones shots all night.
Chisora isn't Ruiz, not saying he beats RJJ but it would not be a fight RJJ would have taken in the first place because of the style match up. Ruiz isn't a pressure fighter, he was the perfect heavyweight to make RJJ look good. Ruiz is the archtype of a jab and grab fighter, throw first then clinch to smother the counter because he doesn't have the defence or movement to avoid it any other way. But with RJJ being so much faster he gets beaten to the punch every time and so clinching would be useless as you'd just see a fight where he gets hit then clinches which is why Ruiz never clinched much in their fight. Chisora in contrast doesn't care if you beat him to the punch, he's willing to take one to give one and won't stand off like Ruiz, he'd be in RJJ's face, putting him on the ropes and mauling him up close. Ruiz is a better fighter than Chisora in fact I see his jab and grab style beating Chisora much like Pulev did in their first fight. But Chisora would be a far harder fight for RJJ than Ruiz because of the style match up. But having said all that I would not have Chisora the favourite to beat Jones Jr. He has a better chance than Ruiz of pulling off an upset but that doesn't mean he would. But we would never see this fight, there's a reason why he only ever fought Ruiz at heavyweight, he knew he had the perfect opponent to make him look good and despite calling out many other heavies never repeated that feat for a reason the risk of losing was to great.
He beats old or prime Chisora. I think he beats Bellew at CW, not so sure about at HW but I would still call that a 50/50 fight
Would favour HW RJJ against all forms of Chisora but I strongly agree with @Brighton bomber that the match-up is nowhere near as stylistically favourable for RJJ as Ruiz was. Chisora's power, willingness to trade and physicality mean RJJ has to be very careful as one slip could mean a KO loss, that's (edit: peak Chisora) for sure a risky fight.
Good post. TBH I think I'd fancy Chisora over RJJ. I think Jones would be winning wide, until all of a sudden he wakes up with a little light shining in his eyes. He's not going to give Jones rest breaks.
