Derrick James: nobody wants to see Spence-Crawford

Nothing strange in what Derrick James is saying at all. The reality is that the fight is not big enough yet for both TV Networks to get together based on Crawford’s poor pay per view numbers. Crawford should try and boost his box office by beating either a combination of Mikey Garcia, Danny Garcia and or Showtime Shawn Porter. Spence has done his bit posting great PPV numbers and ticket gates.

 

Well Derrick, I sure as hell want to see it!!

Crawford would do the same or better numbers vs Porter and Mikey. It wasn't Spence who sold those PPV's.

Sadly he's with Al Haymon who as we know, won't let him.

I respect Derrick James and his opinions. Truly do. Because I want people to respect mine in return. But, with all due respect I definitely want this fight in my life

 

The only thing that took the shine off of it was Spence being a dumb ass and wrecking his car

 

He takes the most recent PPV numbers of Spence and Crawford, adds them up, and takes that figure to be representative of how many buys would be generated if they fought each other. That's next level dumb...

 

Lol. Should've kept his mouth shut or say that Errol needs a couple tune ups before even thinking about unification with Bud, which is understandable.

Welterweight could've been great under PBC but Al Haymon killed all the excitement

 

Nobody wants to listen to Derrick James, whoever he is.

 

He's got a point in that when they argue over the percentages, the only evidence is what each guy has previously drawn. It's deceptive, because all the decent opponents are on 'one side of the street' but it's still going to be used to talk down Crawford's take.

Personally I think the window for this fight being meaningful is closing more rapidly than even the boxers themselves realise. The injury to Spence already puts a huge question mark on it, as does Crawford's age. If politics continues to intervene the fight will be all but meaningless when it arrives.

There's no incentive for Errol Spence to take the risk and make the fight whilst fans will tune in to watch either fighter take part in mismatches like the Mikey Garcia or Amir Khan bouts. So the best thing we can do is ignore them until they push for unification as the only route to a payday.
