The Black Beast increased his historic knockout record... or more accurately put, the referee increased it for him! Terrible stoppage! WAY too premature! i've seen guys in much much worse shape and the official would let it continue! (that includes Jason Herzog) Tall was standing tall, clear-headed and still fighting, but the ref squeezed in between them and waved-off the fight to help the much-older American get what he needed over the young undefeated Brazilian!
Yeah MMA really is becoming a joke these days. Sanitized streamlined trash. The commentary was disgusting not even questioning the stoppage. If it had happened to Lewis there would be an uproar.
I stopped following UFC after it went public with the WME merger in 2016. Once a company goes public they only care about satisfying shareholders rather than giving real fans an authentic show. Honestly hasn’t felt like the same sport since 2013 when the Fertitta’s sold out the fighters for the Reebok deal.
I started watching UFC around 2016, due to McGregor. 2016 to 2020 was ****ing amazing, and I truly enjoyed the promotion and their product. I actually started off watching the Fight Night cards more so than the PPV´s. I would have the cards playing on my TV all the time. All downhill from there on: Apex was introduced, and unfortunately they still use it(thanks shareholders!) Contender series brought lot of low level talent in. Cormier killed Miocic and the heavyweight division. Ngannou could have been the savior, but Dana had to be Dana. Overall quality of cards has declined steadily since, and is especially noticeable from 2024 onwards. I rarely get excited for the PPV´s. Dont get me wrong, there are still banger headliners, but overall the cards themselves are not as stacked as they used to be. 317 was the first card in a while that peaked my interest. I would have to go all the way back to 308 to find the last one I was excited for. And the fact that they have used the BMF belt to headline so many cards, further proves that the promotion is struggling.
