world class - a fighter that is at least top 10 in his weight class at the time he's active

elite - any fighter that dominates his weight class at the time he's active AND could possibly be competitive against elites of other eras.

When you're the underdog and peps say you have no chance of winning...0% chance of winning and you go in there and put out a beating like never before time after time. Just prove peps wrong, that's all it is.

    thats 8 world titles

the top 15 fighters for each belt can in theory fight for a world title...thus making them world class....i would be embarrassed to do the math

Elite - Multiple world titles and have proven themselves against a top 3 opponent in whatever division they fight in

World class - Able to hang with the Top 20 guys in the division (obvoisly to do/prove this they must have faced opponents from various countries)

    Quite a big difference.

Kell Brook is a good example. Yet to prove he is world class... Very much on the edge of doing that...elite? no.
Some may disagree and say he is....

The middle ground is for people like Khan, Froch etc etc Easily world class.. not Elite.

(making it easier for myself using british fighters)

World Class is a rated opponent for me.

For instance Cleverly fought at the domestic level for some time and his first world class opponent was murat.

Elite is someone who displays outstanding skillsets and regularly holds a high ranking, it's a bit more subjective for instance Baldomir got to number 1 in the division but I couldn't call him an elite opponent whereas Forrest was number 1 for a similar length of time but displayed outstanding skillsets that warrant the tag of elite.

It's all a matter of semantics anyways.

By your definition, Marvin Haglar was not "elite." Think about that!

Elite dominates is the one to beat and the 1 that administers the beat down

    to world class boxers.
