I remember seeing some of the fights from the Street Fighter movies but that was all. Chiba was a bad man that's for sure.

Since you asked me specifically, I watched quite a few Gillette Friday night fights with guys like Gaspar Ortega, Yama Bahama, and Ralph (Tiger) Jones, but the first fight about which I have a specific memory is Moore-Rinaldi 2 in 1961. That led to the first boxing magazine I ever purchased from a news stand, the August 1961 issue of Boxing Illustrated which reported the fight. My mother and I were taking the train from Seattle to Minnesota where we visited relatives on the farm for 6 weeks. Since the trip was to take a couple of days, she bought me a magazine of my choice to pass the time. Prior to that, the first radio fight I remember listening to was Johansson-Patterson 1. I remember after that fight I bought a "Sport Magazine" at a drug store with a cover photo and feature story about Ingo. I still have both magazines. The first live fight card I attended was headlined by Eddie Cotton and Roger Rouse in Seattle, I believe on Nov. 3, 1966. The first fight I remember specifically following in day-to-day newspaper reports leading up to the fight was Basilio-Robinson 1.

My mistake that I called Don Dumphy Bob, but in my hometown in Arizona, it was shown on Closed Circuit Television, I saw it one week later I believe.

I was a little boy, and my dad brought me to a closed circuit of Foreman-Ali. All my dad said was that Ali was a great, great fighter and man who was old for a boxer. He said he was hoping Ali wouldn't get hurt, but that Foreman was a monster.

He was super happy when Ali started really making George look especially terrible starting in the 6th round. When the knockout came neither of us could stop smiling for the rest of the night.

My dad sat me down to watch Jones vs Hopkins 1. I was upset because they didn't fight like ninja turtles.

I must have watched some boxing before this, but the first fight I remember watching distinctly was Ernesto Hoost vs Maurice Smith in a beach shack in Japan back in 98. K-1 was the first fightsport I followed obsessively. I was a huge fan of Andy Hug and couldn't believe that a guy who came from a karate background was so impressive. Gave me a real respect for karate which has never diminished.
