Jerry could box beautifully against a slugger , he had the speed, up on his toes, who ever said he was not an accomplished boxer in his own right, never seen him fight! Jerry defeated sluggers Mathis, Foster, Lyle, and Shavers with barely losing a round in all 4 fights combined- Knockdowns 3-0, But against "Swarmer" He really did not need to try for a knockout , but the press etc had got to him, Ali thinks Jerry could have counterpunched Frazier in that 69' fight we will never know!

I like Quarry, he was a very solid heavyweight who could have won a title in another era. But he just didn't have the movement or more importantly the firepower to keep Joe Frazier at bay. You're right, there's no game plan that will work, you are what you are.

Stay home and watch someone else fight Frazier on TV. Thats the only way Quarry wins.

Hook with him and tie up a lot. Keep the right hand up high, you know exactly where that left hook is coming from it's his bread and butter. Frazier doesn't jab his way in so work on the clinch all fight long. Keep resetting him and shove out if you can but try and damage him as much as you can safely on his way in. once you figure out how, he fights one way and if it'll work once variations of that should take you to the final bell. But I am not a coach so... I'd advise him to lean atop Joe due to his posture with his left forearm on the inside and feed him the right uppercut before the ref separates them, just for some cheap damage.

I'm not sure There's any game plan or tactics that could even enable Quarry, to get to the of 15 rounds.
Quarry s gonna fight how he fights anyway. At some point, those hooks from Frazier are gonna do their job, and either rip his face open or put him on the floor.

Quarry would have to take a page out of Evander Holyfield's book when he faced Mike Tyson. Try to force Joe back on his heels. Jerry has to fire off first then tie up and walk him to the ropes. Quarry might adopt some rough tactics on the inside with his head, elbows, shoulders.

Joe Frazier was too strong for that gameplan to be successful but it maybe Quarry's only hope..

Well even if Jerry chose to use a counter punching strategy allied to lateral movement and Jerry could be a good mover, against the constant and incessant output of Joe he’s still going to have to throw an awful lot of punches to try to discourage Joe.
He would still probably gas out although it may have taken a little longer.
I love Jerry as a fighter I just don’t think there’s any way he could have beaten Frazier.

I'd train Quarry to jab a lot and move in a direction away from Frazier's hook. Frazier had no jab or much of a right and above all else stay off the ropes. Quarry likely wouldn't listen to his trainer though so this would be tough, but if he did he could win because Frazier is a limited boxer and Quarry had good tools.
