15 rounds? a new low for you, and that's saying something.

I can see why you believe this. There are often times when body shots don't appear to do much damage, I think it's largely because most fighters train to absorb body shots, so most are conditioned to take them. And any fighter will tell you that the most damaging punches are the one they don't see or expect, see Maidana vs Khan. Khan dropped Maidana with a great body shot, and it looked like the fight was over at that point, but Maidana can back to make it a very competitive fight. It's not like Khan didn't go back to the body after that, the difference was Maidana obviously braced himself for those shots and knew Khan could hurt him to the body. I said that to say this, Khan's body shot was effective because one, it was a good shot, but two, Maidana wasn't ready for it.

Body shots are only as good as the person throwing them.

    You're right.

    My bad.
Although the fight was 15 rds, Ali KO'ed Foreman in the 8th.

Still, that 8 rounds of body shots Ali absorbed from Foreman were like nothing many other top fighters have ever experienced in the ring.

Ali took a worse beating to the body from Frazier in the FOTC and Manila than he did against Foreman in Zaire.

Foreman was landing hard bodyshots but also fighting like an idiot with his hands so open and leaving himself exposed, and Ali was landing the cleaner shots all night long.

Ali is a rare case anyway. He is perhaps the best ever at taking body shots. He took a total beating to the body in Manila, in 100 degree weather, and still finished very strong in rounds 13 and 14.

For that matter, Leonard's ability to take Duran's body shots in Montreal and finish stronger than Duran was also very impressive.

Tho Tomoki didn't land many, that one beautiful bodyshot is all it took to halt a rampaging Singyu, who fought like a champ. The way Tomoki set the bodyshot up with a short left uppercut was excellent.

That's funny I was about to use the Khan example of a body work you would think would slow down someone to crawl , but didn't work and it was Khan who was the one slowing at the end. I see stuff like that all the time. Like I thought Maidana's bodywork against Mayweather would slow him down... Nope Mayweather throwing more punches then during the beginning of the fight.

I think the fact people are saying to watch 30 year old fights with Frazier and Duran show hard it is to find good body work that will slow someone down.

Everyone slows down as the fights progress. The majority of times I watch fights the person I expect to slow down, the one receiving all these vicious body shots, are usually the fresher looking fighter.

6'4 makes a good point in that many people train ridiculously hard for body work, like Pacquiao doing 1000's of crunches a day.

Oh and just because someone boxes here doesn't mean the effect that a body shot has on them is comparable to to what it's going to do to a world class athlete who dedicates his life to training.

Body shots will absolutely take the legs right out from under a fighter. Head shots don't unusually hurt until the next day. Body shots and I mean any body shot hurts right now. The only time I ever went down for the count was from a monster shot to the liver. It was 30 seconds of not being able to catch my breath and of thinking I was gonna die. The first two fights of my amateur career. I went down from head shots but got right back up with no affect. The body shot bruised my ribs and it took over a week to heal. I would take one hundred punches to the head before I would take one clean body shot.

Body shots clearly slow most fighters down but those extra 3 rounds 13,14,15 really made a difference and with less rounds now perhaps the body attack is not quite as important ?

Roy Jones vs Glen Johnson. Since it was Roy Jones I thought he had some crazy strategy that would actually work to sit on the ropes, "rope a dope" and tire out his opponent, and only throw body shots. We saw how that ended.

Depends on the fight. Thurman's body shot's definitely took their toll on Chaves.

If you want to know for real, then get in the ring yourself. After you take some shots to the liver and plexus, you should come back here and educate us scrubs on how body work is useless and never amounts to anything significant.
