The -Stan guys of recent era (Kid Diamond, Nabukov, Tszyu, Archabachov) all seem cut from the same cloth, strong, physical, powerful, and technically good, but panic a little bit when a guy starts punching back, and coming forward. Happened for Tszyu vs. Phillips and Diamond vs. Nate Campbell.

Didn't happen for Nazarov, Arbachakov, Golovkin, Grigorian, much of Tszyu's early career etc etc.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't think there's too much in their stylistic DNA that makes them front runners or bullies.

I am! Ditched it early January so I could focus on other bits and bobs but 100% gonna' finish it once I've done this Kazakh series.

Already halfway through the 7th and 6th entries.

Grigorian was a good fighter, more of a boxer though. He was from Armenia anyway, and they are not the part-Asian guys like the others.

Tszyu didn't seem to fancy Ricky Hatton's aggression much, nor Vince Phillips or Hector Lopez who predicted Phillips would beat him. He was great against boxer types.

Nazarov was talented and should have gotten a major fight against DLH or Mosley. He would have been competitive, but I don't think he would have won. Poor guy lost his eye though.

And Arbachachov? Beat some good guys, but again never came East to face Ricardo Lopez, Michael Carbajal, Cob-Castro, Mark Johnson, etc. Hard to tell.

I don't think these guys are front runners, more like Ken Norton types, just don't know how to go backwards, or react when they get hit.

Part IV has it all....Russians, Cubans, Kazakhs, nuclear bombs, KOs, Olympic medals....all sorts.

Oh, and arguably the best-looking amateur on film...in terms of skill, I don't fancy him.

Kazakhstan is doing very well in international amateur tournaments, and will surely produce some good to great professionals.

    As of 10-2014 AIBA rankings Kazakstan has the #2 Super heavy, #2 heavy, #1 light heavy, #1 middle, #1 69Kg, #1 64KG, #2 60KG, #1 56KG, #3 52KG, and #1 49Kg.

Very impressive. The nation is either ethic Russian, and some West Asian which somewhat explains why do they do well in all weight classes.

Kharlampiev in the article looks a bit like Bob Fitzsimmons.

Ankudinov looks like a powerhouse 5'9" man, perhaps somewhat similar to Rocky Marciano.
