At least I'm happy about Al Michaels and Sugar Ray doing commentary. And any Boxing on TV is better than no Boxing on TV.
If this is true, NBC ratings will skyrocket with these fighters just showing up and looking good against any comp. I figure there will be endless showcase fights but at least it's free. Good exposure for the fighters and for the casual to get back into boxing. People don't like Haymons ways but at least he has a vision. Other promoters will have to work wit him for certain now. ALL HAIL AL HAYMON...THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!
That's pretty incredible. Overnight boxing will get a lot of exposure. I have no faith in Haymon though.
yeh got some interesting names on the cards and all their opponents are going to go from TBA to absolute nobodies
All this means is fighters like Danny Garcia are going to fight fighters like Rod Salka over and over again. NBC is free TV, whatever money is there PALES to what would have come from HBO or Showtime. So, Haymon fighters will be on live TV but not making alot of money, and fighting against nobodies. Yeah, good for boxing...
the commissions surely wont let him get away with that right? does he not have to face his mandatory ?
Good news but I can't help but to be skeptical. The continuation of unappealing matchups, until proven otherwise, is what I expect to happen. No matter the network or platform, it has and will continue to be an unacceptable result. Whelp! Just noticed the news about who fighting on the first card and I must admit that I'm pleasantly surprised. Hat's off to Haymon, for now.
I don't think so. Molina is a fringe contender. He could give Broner some competitive rounds, but he's just not good enough. And Thurman is going to knock Guerrero out. Guerrero is one of the most overrated fighters in boxing.
Guerrero has one of the best chins in boxing Thurman couldn't KO Bundu or Zaveck he won't hurt The Ghost. As far as Molina goes he legitimately dropped Matthysse, unlike the illegitmate dropping by Garcia, he has a puncher's chance especially since Broner wasn't responding too well to many of Molina and Taylor's shots.
