Here's the deal with Haymon. He'll throw people a bone to get them interested in the beginning and then put on mismatches. That's what he did on Showtime. Started strong in 2013 and had nothing but mismatches in 2014. There isn't enough money to have his top fighters fight each other.
So much for Haymon making ****ty match ups. This is a HUGE way to open up the year. Both of these fights could headline HBO/Showtime cards on their own. We get both on one night! I love it! Who do you have for both of these fights?
As for my thoughts, Of course the first card is stellar they want to get people interested, the 2nd 3rd 4th...... 10th card the precipitous drop in quality will be jarring.
The first card looks pretty good and is an excellent choice in terms of an NBC debut. Thurman can make a ton of new fans if he can excite and a whole new number of people will be introduced to Broner. As good or bad as that is, it's publicity for the sport.
John "The Closer" Molina will finally rid us of The Problem:deal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-X37XKTYBE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeiMLMg0tAs
Poor Broner his glass jaw is about to be shattered once again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEQm7-aLt-g
That deal is great for boxing (in the long run) and boxers. Now boxers have three big networks that will show their fights, which makes more of them having big money. Plus the more networks they are on, the more popular Boxing can get. The only thing is that it migt get even more complicated to make big fights. For hardcore boxing fans like we are, that might not be that of a good news.
