I don't really know a lot when it comes to "Truth vs Fiction" regarding Al Haymon. From a lot of what I read he does sound shady, which shouldn't be surprising given which sport he's involved in. But with regards to this, I see no reason why his move shouldn't be applauded.

I mean what's at stake here? He's investing some of his own money, so that we get more boxing and network television? What's the problem here?

Even if it is ultimately a stage on which to showcase developing talent and rising prospects, who cares? It will give us an opportunity to see more boxing without the need of an HBO or Showtime subscription. Obviously the preference would be to get as many good or very good match-ups as possible, but it's free.

If he really is investing a sizable sum of his own money, I'm sure he's going to do his best to make it succeed. Don't think he's pursuing this avenue with the goal of losing his investment.

Is Molina going to become another Soto Karrass?

Good enough to pull off the odd upset, but generally beaten, and constantly thrown in with top fighters?

I obviously like that boxing will be back on TV but I just see this as a huge obstacle at really making the fights that need to be made, made. This is just going to be a bunch of in house Haymon fights where more often then not the star gets fed overmatched and undeserving opponents. A bunch of showcase fights.

Honestly, it is a proven failed system for boxing (trying to build stars) and it keeps getting attempted time and time again. If they just let what will be, be, the stars would eventually emerge.

Anyways, I expect mostly disappointment and frustration with the NBC deal. Like I said, in house and showcasing. A lot more of something boxing needed less of.

    promising!

haymon's strained relationship with promoters is the major issue.

This isn't a bad card for the 1st show. Sounds like Garcia vs Peterson will headline the next one.

I think he did that to protect his fighters so they have good stock going into the NBC fights.

You're condemning it too early. Had this been Arum you'd be praising him.

Great start for Haymon. Let's see how sustainable this is down the line though.

Sounds great but those fighters listed should be fighting each other not some handpicked easy touch like Haymon is going to set them up with.

I GUARANTEE every big name will fight tin cans

The FREE fights will be showcase fights to build up hype for potential PPVs down the line

    DONT GET IT TWISTED

This isn't giving young prospects chances, this will be Deontay wilder level fights

Garcia and Peterson will feed on some scrub so they look a million dollars

For a potential matchup which should have already happened

But that's haymons way, he tries to milk every last drop and he's turning fans against the sport

Mandatory fights are there to stop this BS but this sport has become so corrupted I don't see how it can last

He isn't investing a dime of his own money. He has investors which are fronting the money Haymon is on the hook for nothing here. While I agree it is 'free' Boxing I will be shocked if we the fans are given any really competitive fights. Haymon won't even deliver competitive fights on Showtime which is a pay network why would he do it on NBC? :huh That makes no sense.

Are you saying Haymon is letting it "marinate"?

Yea that was garbage. I would've loved a Garcia vs Postol match, I think Garcia can beat him.
