Actually his Jab was awesome and in anyones league. He might not have been a great fighter but his jab was. His fight with Larry Holmes could have gone either way i thought a young Carl was at least on par with Larry in the jab fest.
I see Riddick Bowes jAB Has become underrated here on ESB i rarely hear people mentioning it. His Jab was awesome one of his weapons that stands out IMO.
Bad Wlad Klit is now the best out there in 2010.......... His jab is sharp, and his hook off the jab is wicked.... MR.BILL
I can't believe I'm saying this but...I think I agree with Bill...about a Klitschko. ...I feel...scared. I think Wlad might actually be the best jabber in the sport. ...Damn it!
I would give Wladimir some credit if it wasn't expected of him. He's bigger than virtually the entire division, common sense determines that he'd throw a strong jab out at every juncture.
His timing with it though, it is elite. It's powerful, quick, and used with terrific efficiency and timing. Those are not automatic with a size advantage that I know of. You can expect it, but go and expect the same of Dimitrenko too if you like. See what happens. Wlad's jab far surpasses anyone of similar size in the division, that I've seen. That includes Vitali. Size does not mean you should expect a great anything, or hold back credit when you get it. It's like looking at Frazier's ability to get under a jab and saying "Well, he's under six feet tall, that's just expected of him, his body gives him an advantage at doing it." I haven't taken note of a particularly special Paul Williams or Celestino Caballero jab, yet they operate under similar advantage there. I don't expect anything special out of them. I remember Chris Byrd saying something interesting about Wlad, something along the lines of thinking Wlad's jab was so well-time that it would've probably been just as effective if he were 6'0 tall as 6'6. Do you withhold credit from Marciano's inside game because he's got short arms that are better built for it? I don't. Wait, am I being serious? After agreeing with Bill, I'm very confused.
Although I am an unaffiliated agnostic, I'm going to go to confession today to get this off of my chest. I'll let everyone know how it went later. :thumbsup
No, no, it was an extraordinary post and you should thank your lucky stars you were blessed with the honor of reading it and then hope you get to ever read another of its caliber in your sad British life. :tong
Hey, why not? You got owned by San Rafael in that Tapia/Calzaghe thread the other day...according to him. But, that's okay, even though I can't sense it happening or comprehend how, he's currently owning me on a thread in the general forum. ...Still strangely don't feel owned though. :huh
I generally don't get owned...unless I make the fatal mistake of engaging in a conversation about something I have no clue about...like Boxing.
