The Holmes fights are bad example for this matter , don't know about the Qawi fight , watched only a small part to date. The Holmes-Spinks-Cooney fights were so crap , they are not example of devastating anything except of aging and bad condition. Spinks vs. Holmes were fights where Spinks moved from side to side , doing nothing , but then Holmes except of plodding didn't do anything either , except of an occasional jab , a missed punch and under very rare circumstances , each fighter landed his own medium-light punches on his safety first opponent.

Excellent post and points. Anywhere in the high 220's was his best weight for me, ideally the exact shape he was for Snipes. A little known fact here - for the Triple Crown Affair (Page - Snipes followed by Dokes - Weaver followed by Holmes - Witherspoon on the same card) a piano was being put into the ring at certain stages for someone to practice. can't remember if one of the boxers was using it or a performer.

Anyways, the weight of it broke some part of the floor and it couldn't be seen. Page severely strained his ankle when it gave way and he tumbled a couple of days before the fight. Ed Schuyler (a real boxing sage and brilliant predictor) found out Page was using some sort of new electrotherapy, keeping the injury from the media and refusing to let it get out as a possible excuse. Ed was a huge fan of Page and did a full story on Page using this as proof he may have turned the "page" and was ready to take over the division. Unfortunately he was wrong.

An interesting point here is that this fight was an eliminator for a mandatory shot at Holmes, and Holmes was the one fighter Page was sure to get up for as he had heavily criticised (as well they had some sort of hotel room incident) Page and they hated each other. I don't think it was incidental Page was brilliant vs Snipes.
