Developing stamina takes years, decades. Itauma's problems aren't simple

Some of these middle aged men on here are pathetic.

we should all be rooting for Itauma for injecting some more youthful slickness into the division

Because Fabio does what he is told and Moses they don't want to upset because of the potential money involved

He won't need years to build an aerobic base. If he starts sparring long rounds and doing 12 3-minute rounds regularly (probably a round or two more, even) while in camp then he should be alright. Donaire managed to massively improve his stamina late in his career by just doing interval training regularly. Sprinting for 3 minutes repeatedly builds better stamina and cardiovascular strength than long roadwork sessions at the same pace (though the majority of professional boxers should do both). Some fighters do simply have better stamina than others regardless of how hard they train and a lot of that has to do with how relaxed they are. New trainer, smarter training and he'll be able to go 12 before too long. (Although I will admit the rumours of him being a big weed smoker are worrying and might play a role in his poor gas tank.)

itauma seems to like the pressure fighter approach to his style. he could work a bit on technique to help him pace himself. add this to sparing and add more cardio improvement training. he will be fine. he has talent. i would be surprised if itauma doesn't get at least one of the heavyweight belts.

it wouldn't hurt to focus on cardio in between training camps.

He was still landing at will on Hrgovic while dead tired. He could have won if he just potshotted him. The difference in speed and skill was astronomical.

I think we've only been hearing from one side so far or rather one perspective, the perspective of those making excuses for Moses' loss and trying to discredit Hrgovic.

Davison is the scapegoat just like McCracken was after AJ lost to Usyk but, as said, the Davison trained Fabio who took up boxing at 20, had no amateur career outside of a few white collar fights, like Moses had blown out most of his opponents early and never been past 7 rounds, just one round longer than Moses who took up boxing aged 9, was fit enough to go straight into a 12 rounder in a an absolute war which was extremely draining and gruelling. All of Fabio's subsequent fights were won or lost in round 10 or 11 and were super gruelling fights for him

I'm not buying that Moses didn't train for a long fight vs Hrgovic. Big Frank would never have allowed that to happen and Davison wouldn't be that dumb to take a risk like that. Even if they felt confident Moses would get him out of there before it got late they wouldn't have risked that

And Moses' older brother Karol who was also a decorated youth amateur and had been the 8 round distance in 3 of his previous 4 fights, and in his fight prior to those suffered a big upset loss to an experienced veteran via stoppage in round 5 so it's not like they all weren't well aware of the risk of things going pear shaped.

Moses can train as hard as he likes but he simply cannot sustain that output over the long distance loading up with power punches nonstop whilst weighing 240-250lbs and using a lot of exaggerated feints and movement and jumping back out of range like a fighter from a much lower division.

He tried his hardest to get Hrgovic out of there and seeing Hrgovic eating all his shots like a boss would 100% also have contributed to depleting his energy reserves, especially after Hrgovic planted those seeds of doubt in his mind and Moses saw them sprout during the fight.

And then when Moses thought he had him going he put his foot on the gas and Hrgovic didn't go anywhere only for Hrgovic to then turn the tables on him and turn the heat right up while Moses was in a vulnerable position and Moses folded.

Davison also instructed him to slow down earlier in the fight, after round 3 IIRC, and we haven't heard what he was saying in the corner in many of the rounds between then and round 9

We're being sold a story and people are just blindly lapping it up without knowing if it's true or not even though there's no way in hell they wouldn't have trained for a long fight

In addition to everything else I just said and posted, Hrgovic warned Moses he was going to drag him into deep waters and drowned him and they knew Hrgovic had an iron chin and has never been stopped even after eating tons of bombs from murderous punchers like Big Bang over the 12 round distance. There's no goddamn way in hell they didn't train for a long fight. So bearing that in mind why wouldn't they train for a long fight?

The week of the fight a very confident Francis Warren said he genuinely believes that no stone has been left unturned by Davison and the training team and that Hrgovic will have to be like Popeye to beat Moses on Saturday night. Well, Popeye showed up

It might just be that Itauma's stupidity/arrogance is a way worse problem than his gas tank. Maybe this loss will be the kick in the pants he needs to mature, become more disciplined in his training, and start trying to actually learning to box instead of just trying to blitz everyone.

Swinging for the fences despite being completely exhausted is the opposite of quitting. It's going out on your shield.

I haven't seen anything to suggest he's undisciplined in training or isn't training very hard. Are Davison trained fighters known for not having good gas tanks? Moses was able to keep Hrgovic handcuffed for large spells with his speed, power and output, if he reduces that power and output Hrgovic is uncuffed and can up his own output and land with a lot more of his shots.

He tried to get Hrgovic out there but Hrgovic was too tough and took him into those deep waters and drowned him. He took a gamble in round 8 and it didn't pay off. It would've vs almost every other HW not named Hrgovic

Personally I just think the boy needs to be shown tough coaching for him to improve down the line
Davidson is too friendly and whilst that approach can work on many avenues of life, there's times it leads to complacency

Moses is one of those cases imo

It's all guess work and im not gonna pretend I'm an expert that knows the right coach for him

But I've watched moses since the ams and since turning pro despite some impressive moments, I've not seen improvement

What he has done so far could have been done with any coach

You haven't seen the clips of him saying he doesn't run and doesn't spar 12 rounds? They've been all over since the weekend.

Also, Hrgovic himself seems to think Moses doesn't hit all that hard. Said Adeleye and Dubois and Zhang hit much harder. So, no, I'm not sold on the idea that Moses would have cleaned any other HW out on Saturday before gassing. Hrgovic is a statue who blocks shots with his face. He's abysmal at actually boxing. Plenty of other fighters would have presented much better defensive work and much better offensive work to Moses which would have kept him from just bombing away. The kid hasn't proven anything other than that he has some severe deficiencies at this point.

Yes of course but I don't know if it's true or not. I don't know what length the rounds are he's sparring, how long the breaks are in between rounds, the pace he's going at during those rounds, are the sticking him in with fresh sparring partners every couple of rounds. But what I do know is that other Davison trained fighters don't seem to have a problem with their gas tanks and are still going strong in the championship rounds in extremely gruelling wars and fights so I'm not buying this story many are trying to sell us that he didn't train Moses for a long fight

One of his other fighters, the very highly regarded prospect and former elite amateur, an Olympic silver medalist no less, Pat McCormack had his unbeaten record snatched from him in round 12 just 8 months ago by Conah Walker so does anyone actually believe Davison wouldn't have trained Moses for a long fight in the most important fight of his life and what was supposed to be the start of a long reign? Walker is a granite-jawed pressure fighter cardio machine, a nightmare style for most even if you're as fit as a fiddle

I mean any other HW who actually did absorb the punishment Hrgovic did.

Moses clearly hits very hard and we could see and hear that. He didn't just stop all his opponents in the European Youth championships on route to winning gold he stopped them all inside a round. I don't think Hrgovic meant he didn't hit hard but rather just not as hard as some of the other massive punchers he's fought and he's fought and sparred many of the hardest punchers in the world and some of thee hardest punchers ever. Even if he did mean that it's Hrgovic and his head is made of iron

Man people really want this guy's career to be over with so bad. This **** is ridiculous ive never seen anything like this after a fighter suffering a 1st loss in a fight he was clearly winning. I was never a fan of Moses prior to this fight but I am now because of all the haters and naysayers he has now.
