Yes, Teo can call him whatever he wants he is the man right now. However he should also definitely step into the ring with him.
With his current resume no. Haney would have to be a mandatory to get a shot at Lopez. Lopez is the only young guy at or around 135 that has fought decent opposition in Loma and Commey. Teddy bear Tank hasn't, Haney hasn't, Garcia hasn't. If I was Lopez, I'd tell Tank to fight Loma first to prove his mettle.
Usually when a promoter starts talking about a certain fighter doesn’t deserve a fight he’s either trying to lowball him or has a style that’s not favorable to the promoters fighter.. Bob is mentioning Verdejo and Kamboso as future foes but what have either of those guys done in their career.. But that’s the way the chips fall Lopez signed with the right promotional company for that division and Haney didn’t.. The way it’s setup over here in the states is we won’t see these guys that came up together in the ring until 6-8 years down the line so Lopez, Garcia, Haney and Stevenson will be marinated until they move up to the 147 division..
Bob nor his predecessor will ever put one of those guys up against Shakur Stevenson, if Top Rank had them all. Stevenson will be a generational talent.
