I think he thinks he hits hard and he sure did try to take both Gamboa's and Linares' heads off, and best believe he wanted the KO real bad, but try as he might not even a wobble was forthcoming. Thankfully Linares' arthritic ghost was able to summon some man power from his depleted reserves and deliver a wobble of his own otherwise both fights would've been wobble free zones and nobody wants to see that.
