Dude, it´s Gamboa. One of the finest athletes in boxing, even at his age. He makes everyone look bad. Because not only is he a fine athlete, he is a damn good boxer.
Haney didn’t look bad. I expected more but he’s young and has great size. If he can progress and still make 135, he could be a top fighter at LW. I expect more power from a guy with his speed and size but he’s going to have to improve his counter punching and timing. Among the young guys, he’s below Teo at this point and probably even with Tank. Tank has power but can be sloppy at times. He’s also physically smaller and would have trouble with Haneys size. Tank only fights smaller guys and Haney us physically larger than Tank. Both beat Gamboa, Tank by KO and Haney beat him decisively on the cards. I just remember a one legged Gamboa winning rounds against Tank before getting stopped. That wasn’t the case with Haney although he didn’t knock him out. Haney needs more time to polish his skills but it wouldn’t surprise me to see him have a better career than Tank. He’s more disciplined outside the ring and is a big LW. Tank can knock out smaller guys but it will be interesting to see how he does against a real lightweight, especially a large one like Haney or Teo. This is what makes boxing interesting.
I should have known you'd create a thread like this. You only do this for "certain" fighters. You're pathetic. He doesn't have power but he has skills and can flat out box. He's no hypejob his skills are very legit. He didn't knock Gamboa out but he still shut him out.
Hardly basic. The most skilled of the young guy’s at 135. Just physically lacking. But he is the youngest too.
Don't make this about race again you cretin. Haney looked crap. Outboxing a man who you have all the big physical advantages over isn't a big deal.
I know his history here. Stay out of my business. Haney didn't score a ko i predicted him to but he still didn't lose a round and showed good boxing ability.
People just forget that Gamboa is a little bulldog. Gamboa reminds me of Maidana at 140. He might not get that many wins but you are not going to have an easy night EVER with this dude. I expected more from Haney but knew Gamboa was not going to stop unless he was KTFO. Bud was the only one who faced Gamboa recently when he was in top shape and Bud had his hands full of to the stoppage.
You're perpetuating your own history well too clearly. I think he can box alright, just doesn't have the cojones to go for the kill. Way too risk averse and honestly quite predictable too. Would get starched at the top level.
He doesn't have big power he can outbox people and still win he's not easy to hit and has good defense. He's only 21 and isn't a finished product he will get better. Btw forza has a horrible history when it comes to black fighters and others will agree with me on it. Do a search on him on his posts and thread history before you attack me. He called Spence a hype job and picked Phil lo Greco to beat and expose him ffs that right there tells you everything you need to know about him.
3rd time seen Delvin Haney fight and he boring AF! He is no superstar. I just don't see it. He hit Gamboa with his best and Gamboa was like Ay, papi no powar! lol...He asked his pop. To reassure him that he is the best. That was sad in a way. Because all the yes man in his corner need to be honest with this boy. He has to improve 200 percent to be the best in the business.
Haney did very well considering his age and long layoff. Gamboa isn't easy to look good against, but Haney won every round. If he stays healthy, Haney has a great future.
Haney is fully deserving of criticism. He basically invited it when he promised a violent KO, a spectacular performance, beating Gamboa the worst he's ever been beaten, and he started saying TGE in camp. There's quiet confidence (like Inoue saying he will do his best against Moloney and then destroying him) and then there's a making all sorts of crazy claims for which a fighter definitely needs to back up.
"gamboa is hard to look good against" yeah tell that to the mexican fighter with over 10 losses that beat the **** out him and made him quit. And that was a younger healthier gamboa. Your boy is a hype job, these are facts.
