Maybe, I misheard, but I thought that drinking beer on the scales thing was debunked?

That it was just fruit juice or something in (what appeared to be) a beer bottle?

Again, your comprehension is failing you. I don't "seem to think" you are unfamiliar with tough competition. I actually expressed that I was ignorant of your experience competing with such standards. Then I went on to make my point.

Try reading my context and understanding what I'm saying without having in your mind that I am trying to debate, attack, belittle, or discredit your point of view. I was simply stating that based on everything that Ryan has exposed of himself, him missing weight had more to do with his lack of focus & discipline than it did with him purposely deciding to miss weight to gain an advantage and miss an opportunity to win a world title. I also argued the fact that yes there are divisions for a reason, but 3 lbs was not as big an advantage as you were making it out to be. I wrestled as well in high school. 3 lbs on the mat is not felt the same way with 3 lbs in the ring for obvious reasons. We also gotta look at the protocol in which the weigh ins occur in wrestling vs pro boxing. Weighing in the morning of a match and competing hours later vs weighing in Friday morning and then competing late Saturday night with no weight clause. Big difference.

The thing that needs to be addressed is that, we got to stop pushing a standard not being upheld while also trying to discredit the ability of fighters when they do enforce the standard. Not just weigh ins....

This year we saw a bad cut happen early in the Tszyu/Fundora fight. Happened in the 2nd round. Tszyu's camp decided to continue the fight feeling Tim can compete regardless, but when they came up short, used that same cut as an excuse as to why Tim wasn't able to do what he came out to do. They could have decided to stop the fight, it would have been a No Contest, Tim is still a champion today... Now they claim they DESERVE another shot because they competed with a cut.......Then we also see Ryan come in over weight. Haney camp can clearly walk away from the fight due to a breach in the contract. Haney would still be champ today. Instead, they chose to move forward with it and came up short. Now we want to lean on those 3 lbs are the excuse for Haney showcasing an inability to avoid the most telegraphed and advertised punch in the sport 9x.

Yet you are the one who came here to beg for attention. Are you going to participate in the conversation, or did you just want me to admire that your shoes match you purse?

This is a boxing forum in which we are discussing boxing. If you don't like to read, take that up with the public school system that clearly didn't prepare you for life amongst other adults. I don't have time to find pictures and emojis just so you feel comfortable with more than 2 sentences being posted. Catch up buddy.

P.S. Growing up, yes, I was a fan of Comic Books....lol. Pretty idiotic to think that somehow discredits someone knowledge of this sport. Especially when there are 2 HOF boxers who owned Arcade/Comic Book outlets in the 80s early 90s in which I purchased from. But hell, what do I know, I'm Just A Boxing Fan.....lol.

There's no way you would be supporting Haney coming in 3 pounds overweight if the roles were reversed. You would also not accept him testing positive for peds.

That's probably true, thats the way they do it now is a private weigh in first before the show weigh in.

I will say one thing,Haney looks like a different person when he is at his walking around weight. He looks about 40 lbs heavier.

In recent memory, this was one of the most satisfying results in boxing. Haney is a weight bully and an insufferable git, so Garcia really did boxing a favour by beating him like that.

I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't give Ryan a pass for coming in overweight. I am disappointed that he did, but I'm not going to condemn him harshly.

As for the PEDs in his system. It's still controversial, and I have rooted for several fighters who have tested positive for PEDs before, from Roy Jones Jr., James Toney, Fernando Vargas, Vitali Klitschko just to name a few.

I know. it is hard to turn down all that money and also he is a fighter, he thought he could win. Those 3 pounds when dealing with a champion is a lot. Marvin Hagler always fought middleweight and wouldn't move up because he knew a few pounds meant something..

This is the first time I heard that, but if true.... Ryan has even more growing up to do. It's one thing to have a drinking problem, it's another to act like you drink a lot just to get a reaction from people.

There's no way I can cheer for someone who shows so much lack of respect for the discipline that is boxing.

I know the weigh in is the weigh in, and the rules are the rules, but let's be honest, Haney comes into the ring ballooned up to the size of a middleweight - often against guys who aren't that big.

Look at the size disparity between him and Lomachenko when they fought, and Kambosos.

Now, I know Devin is taller than a lot of those guys, but that just exacerbates the situation and reinforces how much bigger he seems to look when facing off against those fighters.

In fact, some people have even suggested that, for the first time he actually came up against someone who was just as big, and strong, and tall, and he was battered.

I suppose, what I'm saying is, there's a certain "karmic irony" to him complaining about people being bigger than the agreed upon weight when he's not been (at the division limit of) 140 pounds when he steps into the ring for years.

I think Lomachenko took a lot of his confidence first.
