That's a surprise, I get he lost (kind of) and a loss can be hard to take but you get back on the horse. He's still young at 25, but if he does retire I wouldn't be surprised if he never came back. How a fighter responds to a loss says a lot about a person's mentality. Do you rise to the challenge or fold under the reality of losing for the first time. It's why it's so impressive when fighters make comebacks after losses, or win rematches, it's easier when you are on top and things are going your way and harder when you are the underdog and things have not gone your way and doubt creeps into your mind.

He posted on his Twitter. He's pretty pissed that Top Rank won the purse bid in his next fight with Sandor Martin

Does seem to be the thing to do now, Teo retired and came back, Garcia said he's retire too at one point but reversed it, Fury of course retires about 3-4 times per week. People need to stop posting every thought they have on social media.

So he's just having a hissy fit. Perhaps rightly so if his own promoters won't even bid on his fights, really shows they don't have faith in a fighter if they don't even bid on a purse bid.

If I was a boxer this is something I would want stipulated in any contract, your promoter should be forced to bid on every purse bid. I remember when JMM lost his featherweight titles because nobody bid on his mandatory for the IBF not once but twice. If I was Haney I would be pissed at my manager too, stuff like this should have been accounted for in contract negotiations so situations like this can be avoided.

Why would MR not bid though. At least put in a prop bid you know wont win. Not bidding sounds like they must have issues behind the scenes we're not privy to. Doesn't make sense, business/relationship wise.

    Exactly.

Yes, Haney's boring as heck to watch and just lost - so it might sell quite badly.... But at least put in a poor bid rather than nothing at all.

Yeah even the minimum bid, because you never know if the other promoter doesn't bid you get the right to promote the fight for peanuts and make a killing.

:loel: good on him. he's set for life. he's a smart kid and athletic. maybe he's not a killer. nothing wrong with that. let him sort out and train the kids coming up. who knows, maybe he's the next cus d'amato. let his dad take his cut and go party. if it's true, i wish him well.

Matchroom making a low bid would have looked even worse IMO.
