You never know. Kambosos is going to be pressing for the referee to either penalize the clinching or allow Kambosos to fight out of the clinch. At the very least, the ref has to allow Kambosos to fight out of the clinch, otherwise it's a massively unfair advantage to Haney. Referees should be aware of the unfair advantage a longer, taller boxer has over the shorter guy. Every time the referee breaks up the clinch, he's putting the smaller guy back on the outside, forcing him to have to close the distance again. You get caught in an unbreakable loop when the referee allows so much clinching and then immediately breaks it up, which is what happened last time. So if the referee refs the fight correctly, then that could be a dynamic that makes the fight much more competitive. The other factor is that George was ignoring his corner advice. He tried to close the distance with zero head movement and almost no jab. It was bizarre. He also never uses a high guard, and when someone is as good as Haney, who arguably has the best jab in boxing, you can't just come straight forward like that. You're just going to eat jabs all night long and lose on points. It was very strange the way he fought and looked one dimensional. There are definitely things Kambosos can do differently. Notwithstanding the previous two paragraphs, I have Haney winning this by two to three rounds, no more than four rounds. It should be a more competitive fight, and that's why I'm going to watch it.
Except Kambosos is not a KO artist. The odds of that happening is about the same as Haney dropping dead in the ring by a lightning bolt.
Nice post with good points & yeah even if the Clinch issue arises i am sure Kambosos will have no sway over anything being done about it beforehand in fact i didn't even see him bring it up more than once & it was said in a very fastened way almost as a throwaway reason for a talking point than anything else, Plus now Haney is Arums new signee & he has already begun mapping out various avenues for him to undertake with TopRank & with the way he constantly set up Pacquiao both times being when he had fulfilled his contract with Arum having another hidden tactic as insurance i don't see Kambosos being able to do anything about it now.
If George comes in guns blazing, willing to eat two shots to land one. Then maybe the outcome will change, but I'm not sure Kambosos has that in him. I thought he did the first time, and he proved me wrong, fingers crossed he gets it right the second time, but I'm not hopeful. That being said, all he needs is to give the appearance he's outhustling him for 3 or 4 rounds, that might be enough to win on the scorecards, considering how close the original ones were.
well, the money will be quite positive for him. He's trying to squeeze his only oportunity to make big money. As much as I dont see the point of this rematch, I cant blame him, tbh. He has a family to feed.
The only way for Kambosos to really have any kind of chance at all is to go full-on Jeff Fenech on Haney and just bull-rush his way on him with nonstop pressure and punches. I just don't know if Kambo is really able to replicate Fenech's style by going balls to the walls when he needs it. Who knows, hopefully he surprises all of us with a much better performance this time.
If Kambosos lands the right hand he landed on Lopez in the first round Haney's glass jaw will shatter.
