Eh he kinda put up a very good fight in both, could've given him the Linares fight easily. He's also an Olympic gold medallist. If someone isn't a world titlist and are above Euro level (as Campbell definitely is) we have a name for it. They're called contenders. He's at contender level. Get it right. If you don't think he can give Haney fits then you're blind to his obvious talent. He's big, strong, quick, technical and has a good engine. He can do bits against anyone.
Him being a gold medalist has no bearing on his pro career. As I said Campbell is a Euro level guy, who comes up short whenever he steps up to World level. He can change that by beating someone who is more than domestic or Euro level.
It's interesting that you think so highly of Europe that Euro level is synonymous with contender level.
I know he's young, but the talent just isn't there. Very basic fighter, zero punching power. The boy is gonna get hurt some day.
I think Loma would have issues with Haney due to his natural size and length. Haney is probably going to end up as a WW. He'd still outbox him for a 116-112 type scoreline.
"Exposed".. Nope, hardly, actually far from it, actually what does the word "Exposed" mean to you? I think you're forgetting Haney is 20 years old, he is a baby, most top fighters have at least one or two fights they struggle in early on in their careers or when they get around world level. Haney is a world champion at 20 years old, he is now fighting a very good level of opposition, that fight over the weekend will do him a power of good, those are the sort of fights he needs, awkward and hard work. That's the sort of fight he will or should learn so much from. Sure you can pick holes on his performance and that's fine, nobody will be more critical of that performance than Devin himself, it's how he responds and how he uses that experience to improve himself will be the measure. Haney is a very good fighter, and we should be excited that he has maybe another 10 years in the sport at the very top level and he could genuinely be anything but the early signs are very very good.
Haven't seen the fight, but judging on the scores this either wasn't close by any stretch of imagination or these were all CJ Ross type judges. Still, he probably didn't look good in there, but he basically is a prospect that got handed Lomachenko's belt, because the WBC thought that was a good idea.
He's 21. It was a good learning fight. Lol at saying a 21 year old developing fighter was exposed, this is exactly what he needs for his development
Two won't cross paths imo Loma is intent on the Lopez Commey winner & will probably go back to 130 after.. wheras Haney will outgrow LW pretty quick & be a LWW/WW soon.. He's too green to beat an old master like Loma anyway. Loma is only getting beat because of age..
