He lets his opponents lead too much, standing there waiting to counter, he isn`t vdery good at opening a fighter up.
He can be feinted out of position by only reacting, it`s not a style to not be good at something and he isn`t anywherre near as good as Loma is at opening an opponent up just like most amateur champs, Loma was far more skilled as an amateyr than most olympic champs, Haney still fights like an amateur.
You have Domestic level, which is damn near all of Campbell's wins. Then you have Euro level, which depending on how thin a division is, may or may not be a lower tier contender, fringe contender, or scrub.
I disagree, Haney looked like a young, developing fighter. He’s not elite but he’s very young and gaining experience. He’s getting better with each fight. Don’t think he’s ready for the top guys and was disappointed in the opponent. Also, it makes no sense to give an opponent two weeks notice for a fight if this stature. Would have liked to have seen Haney fake the guy out quickly but he walked away with the W and gained ring experience. Why do people insist on rushing young guys? Haney -Teo would be interesting or even Tank. I like Haney’s attitude and raw skills. Hope he isn’t rushed and ruined like so many other fighters. He’s got a belt and will face top guys soon. Wish he had another year and 3 more fights against reasonable opposition but it’s too late for that because he has a strap. He’s a big LW and will probably grow out of 135 sooner than later. I only saw a partial replay of the fight and hope to rewatch it later this week. Family commitments are seriously cutting into my viewing time. It’s hard to really gauge Haney for me because I was not familiar with his opponent and have not seen all of his fights. We will know much more when he faces a top opponent which will probably happen soon. I’ll definitely watch!
It’s pure fanboy stuff. You know the usual “my guy destroys your guy” type thing.Think most of us are aware of his standing in the sport and in his case he’s fought the best and lost.Haney v Campbell would be a real good close fight imo and experience wise I might just fancy Campbell.
Haney can be feinted out of position? Ok, you could argue anyone can be feinted out of position. Can you explain how an undefeated 20 year old looks like an amateur without saying he's not as good as the #1 or #2 top p4p fighter on the planet? No offense but it sounds like your just pulling arguments out of your ass on most of your threads
No, Haney was not "exposed." The kid encountered a style he had perhaps not seen to date, and as a result he had to adjust and adapt a bit more than he is accustomed to. Nonetheless Haney managed to drop Santiago and pitch a virtual shutout. These types of fights can only aid in the seasoning process. Remember, like most young fighters, Haney is very much a work-in-progress. Nothing that I saw changes my opinion that he still poses a threat to anyone, Lomachenko included, at 135lbs. If that fight occurs in the next six months, however, I expect the gifted Ukrainian to score a 116-112 (115-113 if Haney is really on that night) type decision. Too much craft, guile, and speedy footwork for the young American at this stage.
The way you avoid being feinted out of position is by being pro-active rather than reactive to keep your opponent guessing and confused, always move something like Loma, never be stationary or predictable.
Honestly it sounds like you copy and pasted that from a boxing instruction manual. You can't tell every young fighter that the need to be like Loma. It doesn't work like that.
