Isn't Gamboa much smaller, older and shot to pieces?

To be fair Devin still is only 21. Taking the slow route to the top I see.

 

I cant blame people for not being canelo or jcc or benítez.

I can praise canelo, jcc or benítez for doing what they did, but if someone wants to take more time at 21 yo, well, he has the right to do so. 21 yo is nothing, not eveybody has to be pro at 16 yo and to face his cervantes at 17.

Now, is a washed up gamboa the toughest match of his career?... well, probably yes. So he's not lying.

 

He's taking it slow because his managers and father don't have that much confidence in him. Is teofimo lopez taking it slow? Hell no, he's 23 and said give me p4p #1 fighter TODAY, lets go. He's only been pro for 4 years.

 

He's being respectful to Gamboa which from a young fighter is classy if you ask me. Also in some ways he may well be correct in a sense Gamboa might be old but he's definitely going to present problems Haney has never encountered by his experience alone

 

last time I checked 21 was not equal to 23.

Gamboa is a little guy who exited his prime a full decade ago and has been stopped 3x. Devin looking anything but impressive here is basically a loss.

 

Wow 2 whole years, you can bet your ass in 2 years haney will still be fighting bums and 40 year old wash ups

 

Gamboa would be the toughest fight of Teofemale's career as well. And Ryan Garcia. And Shakur Stevenson.

 

Teo decapitating commey was a way better win and statement, that's why hes getting this fight. Ryan garcia is also taking a solid opponent next. These hype job bums like haney and shakur are still fighting nobodies.

 

It's a shame that this is both true yet it says so little of Devin's ambition.

Gamboa is a p4p much greater fighter, at least prime for prime...but this version of him isn't any tougher a test for Haney than was prime undefeated Ndongeni.

 

The only thing he can do to look good is get Gamboa out early and and easy. If he goes 12 with him like Tank did its not a good look.

 

Haney isn't going to be out in with a real fighter for a while. His handlers are playing the waiting game.
