Haney needs to move up. I think the weight cut is killing his 'power'. He has some pop for sure. The Moran KO confirmed it. Moran is super durable and has an iron chin.

Pros =

Flashy - check
Hand speed - check
Foot speed - check
Ability to box off the front & back foot - check
Fluid combinations - check (it is beautiful to watch at times. Early in the Linares fight I thought he boxed very well)
Willingness to trade - check
Work to the body - check. This was a key to victory last night. The straight right to Diaz's gut was what kept Diaz from rushing in.

Cons =

Defence - for a very slick, fast fighter, he is easy to find.
Lack of power - being easy to hit means he needs something to nullify the offence of the other fighter. He has pop, but not the power to keep a full-weight, power puncher honest.
Chin - very suspect. Out on his feet against Linares (who can punch - I must add), but being hurt on more than one occasion against Diaz raises additional doubt about his whiskers.
Body - if a relatively mediocre puncher in Diaz was able to hurt him, imagine what a good body puncher would do (Garcia).
Recovery - 3+ minutes to recover against Linares? And last night he was countered over and over after being hurt to the body
Arrogance - Haney feels like he has to prove himself. As a boxer (not a puncher), he should focus on 12 round fights. Trading with light punchers is fine, but as he moves up his competition he is going to need discipline. Combining his willingness to trade + a suspect chin, there is a disaster moment waiting to happen. When hurt, he prefers to reassure the other fighter he wasn't hurt, instead of focusing on getting himself back on track.

Question marks =

Competition - to this point, it really has been below the bar. Being hurt and at times exposed against this level of competition does add a question mark against the other big names in the division. Linares is a great fighter, but he was Gamboa spec by the time he fought Haney.
Discipline - From memory, Haney was warned 6 times for punching low. Do that against Tank or the likes, he will get a point taken.

As a boxer, I rate Haney. Regardless of his distinct lack of power, I think he is exciting to watch. He has enough pop/snap in his punches to make fights fun, but I feel he is a KO waiting to happen. Someone above mentioned Khan, which is exactly what I get from Haney.

I feel if he walked onto a big shot from Davis, Garcia or Kambosos, he is going to sleep.

Also, it's worth mentioning the Lomachenko fight. From what we've seen in his last 2 outings, what would stop Lomachenko from landing combinations on Haney? Haney doesn't offer enough power to keep Lomachenko from coming forward. If he tries to rip to the body like he did against the slower Diaz, he will be tattooed around the head.

Personally, I think Lomachenko is a horrible matchup for Haney.

There are some points I disagree with, but good analysis. I like Haney’s chances against Kambosos but he ain’t ready for Lomachenko. Which is probably why Hearn will be in rush to make Haney/Kambosos next, he’ll want him to become undisputed before Loma comes knocking for a title fight.
