WTF did I just watch? How did Devin get knocked down 4x...? And why the hell did he keep aggressively fighting on the front foot even after being dropped? He refused to back off, use his legs, block, and had zero head movement. Incredibly leaky defense. Left himself wide open lunging like a wild boar despite all the damage he took. It made no sense.

I understand Devin loves his father, but he needs to convince him to step down for a more background role and get a better coach. The guy has talent and skill, but barely used any of it tonight. I don't know when he stopped being a more technical guy and started becoming this weird super aggressive guy, but it needs to stop. You can't be an offensive oriented fighter with zero punching power and leaky defense. He needs a coach who knows how to teach actual defense. If that were Tank or Cruz in there landing those vicious body shots and hooks, Devin would've been brutally KOd within 5. He might end up like Robert Guerrero and that would be a shame.

Bill Haney is a clown and is definitely crying in the car right now. He thinks he's a literal pimp and will never let his cash cow Devin move to another trainer. Devin is nowhere near as good as he was sold. He got outboxed by Loma and now splattered by Ryan, all while being way bigger than everyone he's ever faced and having hometown judges/refs.

That's a wrap on The Dream. **** Bill Haney's clown ass

He fought like he always fights. He cannot fight in the back foot.

His dad can't train him to improve. They have the same regimen and tactics, and now it has been exposed. He can benefit from a good trainer like Robert Garcia, who can teach him to fight on the front foot.

    Strongly agreed.

I said more or less the same kind of thing after his fight with Loma.

"Regardless of whether Haney stays at 35 or jumps up to 40, I think he could really use a new corner. Perhaps someone from the old Main Events Benton lineage, which included guys like Bloodworth and Shields - I think a trainer with that style background would suit someone like Haney exceptionally well."

Robert Garcia would be a good fit. IDK if Bill Haney's ego will allow for him to step aside. Something similar happened with Buster Douglas whose father kept being a nuisance in camp.

Sometimes the dad really holds back the son.

His dad was too busy being on Instagram live, even today a few hours before the fight he’s doing Instagram live at the stadium. He ain’t no trainer, he’s just a hype man. He needs an actual trainer to teach him skills

Good assessment. Like you know all Ryan has is the left hook, why give him that opening. Ryan was fat and out of shape, if he fought more disciplined he would have won. He won every round besides round 1 before the KD.

Honestly Haney can only blame himself...and his dad by extension. Ryan has raw talent and quick hands, but he wasn't "out boxing" Haney, he simply kept mashing hooks like a fighting game boss and Haney kept getting caught because his defense was terrible and he kept fighting aggressively with his head wide open. Ryan is actually pretty beatable and isn't some genius technical fighter. He just took advantage of Haney's very sloppy swings and countered.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why Haney didn't back off to recover or tried to get back to boxing to score points. He insisted on trading and pressuring. That's why I said he may end up like Robert Guerrero: a technical fighter who lacks power, but suddenly decided to become more aggressive with leaky defense.

Haney is still young enough to come back from this. He needs to get back to the drawing board and try and hide his weaknesses better which is his chin and power. he has skill.

This is a really bad look for Haney. I don't criticize fighters for losing to other top level fighters. It happens. But Ryan Garcia is so utterly mediocre. Garcia is just not a good fighter at all. He is a lazy trainer, has no skill and is overrated AF. He has a good left hook. That's all he has. This loss is a bad loss.
