Imagine Mosley lands that right hand that he landed on Shannan Taylor in round one. It would send Haney's chin to Mars lol
LOL!!!!!!!!! Good old Shannon was never the same after that. Like a lightening bolt. Thunderous right hand.
Who care's if they're top 10?! Go look at any list throughout history in boxing, go look currently................I'm pretty certain being in the top 10 is a standard (not top 5). And yeah Molina and Leija would definitely be top 5 today, Holiday maybe or maybe not but you're claiming 3 guys that all won titles wouldn't be ranked over guys who haven't won anything yet, that's silly. Molina and Leija in particular we can actually look back on and they were definitely more proven than Kambosos, Isaac Cruz and Ryan and they are all top 5 right now I believe. Then you said Shane came in at 150, as if he's the only one that rehydrates after the weigh in and his opponents didn't The biggest difference between John Brown and Glen Johnson was the road warrior had a cinderella story plot twist and Brown never won the big one. If you actually know anything about boxing, their careers definitely mirror each other as did their toughness. Glen was a tough hard luck guy with some good wins and some tight losses and some bad ones until he won the belt.............just like Brown.
Shane was a 140-147 lber fighting at 135; that's how he was able to simply bypass 140 when it was time to get paid. Name the top 10 lightweights without googling. It's not a standard for anything anymore; it's a barrier. Only the guys that break through that barrier to reach the very top truly matter. Glen Johnson had a much better career than John Brown. He started his career 32-0, earning a shot at Bernard Hopkins for the middleweight title. He had lots of disputed losses, but also had victories over Roy Jones, Antonio Tarver, Eric Harding, Clinton Woods, Montell Griffin, etc. He was more than just a tough guy; he could fight. What did John Brown ever do besides ugly fights up and take a good punch? The comparison is disrespectful.
Shane was a LW fighter that was very special physically and had the ability to move up. He wasn't a WW fighting at LW, otherwise he would've never been able to make the limit. That's also why he wasn't a very good JMW, because he wasn't even really a WW. WW's usually do marginally well at JMW (and higher), he didn't at all...........hence him dropping back down I may be wrong on the order but: Haney, Loma, Stevenson, Tank, Cruz, Ryan, Kambosos, Frank Martin that's 8 right there so I don't know what you were tryna prove there. If it wasn't a standard, every single ranking body on Earth wouldn't list the top 10, they'd stop at 5 like you're saying. Glen Johnson did end up having a better career than John Brown, there is no disputing that but I'm tired of people talking about him being undefeated until Bernard............very few people even saw that fight, he was not a name or a prospect. Glen wasn't even known until he was a SMW and he was known for what...................giving people rough fights and losing. And there but for the fact he beat Clinton Woods (Cinderella Man moment), because his fights with Calzaghe kept falling through, he never would've gotten those other names (good names) he ended up getting, he would've still been a journeymen...............just like John Brown so no it ain't disrespectful to compare them. Glen's whole style was to get in and make it rough..............and take a good punch, you compared them properly without even realizing it Man just stop.
"Stop" is what you just did at eight lightweights, while attempting to name ten. You proved my point by omitting William Zepeda; he is a fringe top ten guy who you omitted... despite the fact that he is undefeated. Shane did fine at 154; he lost to a better fighter in Winky Wright, but did defeat Fernando Vargas twice before moving back down to chase more money. He struggled overall at 147-154 because he was never quite as good as he appeared to be when he had all of the physical advantages over shorter, weaker, and less skilled opponents. When he settled into 147, he was rehydrating to 160. He's ALWAYS been a weight bully. If you want to omit everything Glen Johnson accomplished, he would be comparable to John Brown. He accomplished more because he was a better fighter... much better... and so had a much better career.
& Who exactly has he fought to make you believe that ? valdez da “face 1st mex” Conceicao da “Brazilian nut”? Herring da “military man”? Yoshino da “random chino”? whom from his resume can hold a candle to Mosley?
He could sway me going forward (he looked better losing to Lomachenko than I thought he would so maybe he's still a work in progress) , but I can't see what Haney does to keep Sugar Shane from chasing him down and beating his ass.
