Alexander needs a real jab. He was throwing meaningless punches pretty much the whole fight. & joan hit it on the head, his defense is a step back. The thing that suprised me was he looked like he had some power against urango, but not against kotelnik. If hbo didn't have plans for alexander/bradley in the future, kotelnik wins that fight easily.
Its funny how fans work. Many people on here were touting this guy as the next big thing. But they fail to remember that he was losing the fight against Urango and it was starting to look like Urango was starting to put some hurt on Devon when he was stopped. Many of the same people like to talk about Ricky Hatton as if he was some crude shitty boxer. But they forget that with the exception of a couple of good body shots he easily handled the guy. I don't see how the two can mutually exist. But far worse then the idiots on this forum touting him as a future great was the fact that the biggest push for this guy to be thought of as the next great thing was coming from well respected fight writers. It won't be a big deal if it wasn't for the fact that these same idiots in the media do the same stupid **** everytime an fast flashy American fighter with a couple of good KOs comes along. Its pathetic how often it seems like the people whom make it there career reporting on fights offer little expert insight on what they are charged to report on.
I was more entertained watching that fight than I figured I would be. Give some credit to Kotelnik, that guy showed up to fight. I haven't seen much of him, but that was the best I have seen him fight. I'm not bailing on Alexander. Prospects hit tough fights. That's why they're called prospects.
Alexander's defense is average. But then again, almost every aspect of Alexander's skillset is average. He really doesn't have that 'one thing' that makes him really good. However, at the same time, Alexander does not have that glaring weakness. I have to say, though, that Alexander has a lot of heart and determination. I don't how he lasted 12 rounds Saturday, but somehow he found a way to win, on a night when he clearly did not have it.
