its all good to allow 2 to get 1 but what happens when you allow 2 and the guy is already gone before you have time to land your 1? What if the guy knows what you're doing and decides to just land 1 and get out.
He is a solid fighter....but i think his defense is too leaky....could cause him serious trouble when he steps up in talent in opponents.
I just never understood why people were annointing him this great fighter when he didn't do that much to warrant it. I think it was his amazing KO over Urango that just deluded most people's view of him. Well, reality has set in. He has work to do before he becomes a great fighter.
you were only right about the first part. He's not a defensively disciplined in any way... in fact that is his weakness. Don't be too proud. As for the OP. I still think he has a fair chance against Bradley, and I think he's still favored to beat Maidana. I also think he matches up better with Ortiz, too. Khan would constructively destruct him.
That's what I mean, when I said that Bradley likes to fight. He'll land his two and go for a third and fourth. Khan is similar because he has a big heart. Alexander, however, just isn't good enough to do that all night. He has poor defence and would get tagged often. I actually think Malignaggi has a good shot against Maidana.
I think so too. People said I was a sceptic for focusing on the boxing before the knockout against Urango. He actually wasn't that impressive but because of the knockout, people overlooked that. He was less accurate than Hatton and Berto and he took more shots too. He wasn't winning easily before the knockout and I don't think he's a big puncher either.
I think you may be right. Like us english we love to big up are fighters too. He is another Jeff Lacy if he gets put in with a good operator, hes goonar get a slap.
Alexander simply isn't that good, and never has been. You would have only ever need use your eyes. It was overtly apparent. The people who have been hyping Alexander look like ****ing idiots. Which they are. Clearly.
And this quote is exactly what I meant, when I said Urango was an old 29. I was right too. "...When Berto fought Urango, it was when Urango was Urango and not softened up for Devon. So he's not being candid with the fans. Devon Alexander wasn't fighting the same type of fighter in Urango."
Just as people may have been overhyping his win over Urango, they are now overhyping his difficulty with Kotelnik. Ak is a good fighter, Alexander won, and would still probably be the favortie over anyone at 140 besides mabye Bradley. Keith
You don't consider last night a test for him? He got taken out to the deep water by a guy who, say what you will but had a great night last night faught a damn good fight. He didn't wilt, he didn't quit, and he won the fight, I mean what greater test could he have gotten. Furthermore the dude is 23 years old, obviously he is going to get better, he's going to gain valuable experience, and there is no reason for anyone to believe he will do anything but get better from what happened last night. The kid was fighting under enormous pressure, he wanted to perform in front of his hometown, tried to hard for a KO, was extremely tight, and wasted a lot of energy early in the fight hence he didn't look great the second half. I mean God Damn the kid ****ed up, but to write him off as "overrated" he is an undefeated 23 year old dual champion, who just beat a former world champion, and was 2-0 (2 KO's) in his previous World Title bouts. While you have the right to your opinion, I think it may be a bit premature, as the kid has done nothing but perform and most importantly win...it wasn't pretty but he won.
Shiiiit, so it's cool for Ortiz to get his azs handed to him to the point he quits like a ***** on his stool and contemplates never boxing again, yet this kid doesn't win by enough to please some here and he's "meh", how the **** do you justify that?
