Hmmm...Alexander can't find an opponent and no-one at 140lbs is stepping up to fight him...I WONDER WHY????
Agreed Quintana had fought mainly bums after Williams but to say he wasnt dangerous after 2 consecutive KOs is a little bit over the mark. Yes he came down in weight, but he still looked pretty sharp in the fight. Berto was exelent no, hell he tore his bicep in the 3rd and still managed to knock him out. He pretty much schooled a dangerous Urango over 12, losing only 2 rounds in the process. Although i agree that he would have been beaten by SSM if they had fought, but taking that fight shows you he wants to be in there with the best of em. It will be interesting to see who he fights next. Pac is a no-no, Shane and Floyd are fighting each other and Cotto is moving up, which pretty much limits his opponents. Maybe he fights Clottey? Either that or 1 of the LWWs move up to fight him. If they choose to stay at the lighter weight, well his hands are pretty much tied
wow, only on ESB you can find comments THIS ******ed. enlighten me then all knowing boxing guru, at the developing stages of one's career (if you think berto has peaked your out of your mind) who exactly do you expect him to fight?? manny paquiaou? floyd mayweather? and wow, what about berto's 8 family members that died in haiti?? you think berto's team planned for the deaths to happen? you think there's secret illuminati esque conspiracy thay we the fans dont now about? gtfo clown. instead of being a troll and trying to wind people up actually discuss the topic thats been given.
Alexander would put a whipping on Berto at any weight. But that's not the fight Alexander should be interested in. Joan Guzman is available. That's the fight people are clamoring for.
It certainly would be...which is why I didn't say that. I only argued that he was not likely the same challenge of a fighter that Williams or Julio fought. And personally, I didn't think Quintana was particularly sharp in that fight either, compared to how I've seen him perform before. I thought as soon as he went a few rounds he started fighting completely wrong and giving up what was giving him success in the first two. And, yes, Berto schooled Urango. But he brought him up a weight and tough as he is, I think Berto was pretty much expected to decision a fairly crude guy that Hatton had decisioned. Wow. Did you not actually read my comment or were you simply unable to comprehend it. Because it sounds like you're carrying on a different argument altogether. What exactly does your comment have anything whatsoever to do with the facts on Quintana that I had mentioned, or that a fight with Shane was a very unusual fight for them to take considering it would be a very, very big step up. Who the living **** said anything about a conspiracy or his reasons for pulling out of the Mosley fight? Did I? Did I say one word about his pulling out of the Mosely fight let alone in a negative and judgmental way? Did you imagine that part? Did I say I thought Berto had peaked either? Did I even mention anything about that? No. Why are you talking about these things, I certainly wasn't. Get your own head out of your ass so you can actually read properly before calling my post ******ed. :hi:
well of course you didnt BLATANTLY say it genius, its definitely what you implied though. the fact that your under the impression this fighter who is obviously in the developing stages in his career is being "protected" is just lain stupid. thats like me saying daniel jacobs and fernando guerro are protected fighters because neither one them have fought kelly pavlik or felix sturm:nut no ****! because they're still learning. berto took the mosley fight because he wants to fight the best, its not his fault a whopping 8 members of his family were killed over night. and you think they pulled out because it was solely "out of character"??? i stand corrected, clown.
and what about that guillermo rigondeaux?? everyone knows he's a protected fighter because he didnt fight juan manuel lopez:nut
I agree he was the favourite going into the Urango fight, but the way he shut him out was impressive like you said. But after that who could he have fought? The big 3 WWs are streets ahead at this moment in time, and all have their own committments. Next id like to see him fight Clottey, a tough fighter with good defensive. Although he is coming off back to back losses against Pac and Cotto,it will still be a stern test for berto, who might get over zealous trying to break through his defence.
Yeah, Collazo, about on the same level as Berto. He had been knocked out by a "who?" decisioned by Ricky Hatton and utterly dominated and outclassed on a technical level by a late thirties Mosley by that point (Before Mosley's big resurgence). Tells you something. Before that a welterweight title fight with two pound, a guy who's last championship year was at super featherweight in 2002 and he had very little power of course...he was there to lose. And after that a crude but toughly built light welterweight in Urango. I didn't say they wouldn't give him tough enough fights, but aside from making a deal to do Mosley...he's been the WBC champion for four defenses since 2008. All fighters who are groomed to be "somebody" typically are protected as they come to a title shot. I have no problem with that. But he IS the WBC champion. They're still just bringing him along. Which is smart, but yes I do think he's been a protected "champion" fighter. I didn't blame him for it though.
Again, you're taking an implication that's not there and then calling me a clown for implying it. I can do that too. Check this out. "Hey, stop calling Pavlik's mom a ho!" See, you didn't imply that but I'm acting like you did and I'll stick to it like a ****ing moron too. So you can see how it looks. And it's not at all like saying that about Jacobs or Guererro because they are not world champions. They have not been world champions for a few years either. Berto has. He's called the WBC welterweight champion. A champion, not an up and coming young prospect. There's a difference.
