Pretty even fight, I'd favour Ortiz because even though he has a glass jaw Alexander throws a lot of pitter patter shots.
At 147, I think Devon can make Vic quit, especially with his good in fighting, and nice crisp solid counter punching on top of him having a great chin while Vic's is pretty weak.
Just because Victor quit once against Maidana.. It doesn't mean he will quit again! Did Victor quit against Berto?
I think Alexander is too fast for him, that and Alexander has the better chin, it would be a good/fun fight but I'd favor Devon.
Victor Ortiz weighs alot more than Alexander on fight night, and has that latin bounce in his step, same one you see with Cotto and used to see with ODLH, this allows him to keep pace with Alexander, step to the left in order to cut the ring off and shoot his right hook over the top of Alexander's straight left. Alexander is not a physical fighter really and it would be unwise for him to clinch with Ortiz who may be more than 15lbs heavier. Ortiz can turn Alexander into a straight left to the body, feint the jab and as Alexander circles to his right (Like he always does when throwing his own Jab) dip low and shoot the left to the body, take his legs from him. Ortiz stops Alexander IMO, people are getting carried away. All Devon did was beat another 140lb fighter in a higher weightclass, Ortiz is a big WW now, and is a totally different cattle of fish.
True, but that 140lb fighter is one who beat Ortiz by making him quit. I'm also not sure Alexander can't hurt and drop Ortiz if Berto can.
Ortiz is pretty fast himself Jonathon! Go back to the farm and feed the chickens! Don't hump them this time..
Yes he did. Ortiz pretty much had to malt, to get down to 140. He made a big mistake quitting in that fight, and paid for it in the press; the Berto fight shows that hopefully he's over come that. Alexander hurt Maidana a few times last night but I saw it as Alexander fitting comftorbly into 147lbs, where as Maidana is a 140lb guy through and through, Ortiz who comes in at around 166 would be much harder to hurt, bearing in mind he's in good solid condition, and likely to see Alexander's punches coming. If Alexander can get close enough to fire an uppercut then it's conceivable that he can drop Ortiz, but I don't think he can do it with a straight left. Edit : Maidana applys a constant come forward preassure, which puts as much preassure on a fighter mentally as physically (as we saw with Ortiz) Alexander is vastly different based on his preference to circle.
