This is good if more boxers stopped paying their bull**** ABC title fees, these BS ABC titles would go away. Props to Mayweather....(who I can't stand but hit the nail on the head with this) and Bradley for being above the bull****. They should not pay the WBO sanctioning fees either **** it.....that would be dope :happy and another method from taking away from those dudes that just set the sport back anways. fight for the paper, the belt will collect dust anyways.
Belts are rapidly becoming worthless. Nobody cares if a fighter holds a version anymore only thing that matters is who they fight.
belts collect dust anyways, but thats sum bs.just pay the ****.if i was a boxer i would want to keep all my titles down to the ubo belt.
Actually I quite like the way The Ring Belt works. Probably the only belt that actually means you've done enough to earn it.
It's a bit of a dilemma. If I were a boxer, I'd wanna keep of course as much of my purse as I could, when you take into account tax/trainer's cut/promotors cut etc and you are taking home far less than half your purse, you wanna keep hold of every penny. But then again, I'd want the memorabilia and I'd want the belts. I'd be tempted to say only keep world title belts, but then what if I were a boxer, I had the opportunity to fight the British champ in my weight class, I didn't pay the sanctioning fee because I thought 'I don't need to spend a portion of my purse on this when I'm gonna win world titles someday' and I never did. That would be the only title I got to fight for and I never paid the sanctioning fee, never went down as a champion and never had a belt at home sitting in my display cabinet. I suppose you could always look at it as an investment, you can always sell the belts if you get hard up.
Going up the ranks winning the likes of the Lonsdale, Commonwealth and European belts are a rite of passage on to an attempt on the world level. They are belts you want to win as a way of progression. On the world level your name is what matters. If your name can be held in good esteem for fighting and beating the best it means more than any belt can. After you've been and gone your name will be spoke about through generations, the belt just ends up at a charity auction.
Doesn't matter. Same thing happened to zoo but he was still recognised as champ, as was hatton even though he had just the ibf, as was pacman even though he had none.
Bradley and Suleiman aren't particular friends after WBC stripped him for unifying with Kendall Holt's WBO
