    has anybody here used DHEA. i am starting to get back into shape after a layoff of a few years. i want to do a few fights. Would a low dosage of DHEA but harmful or advantageous as i get the rust out of my limbs and muscles. Can i take DHEA and still avoid steriods tests for a pro fight?

    Relying on supplements is harmful in general.

    Eat the right food, get enough sleep and train right and you should never need a supplement.

    Are you a pro fighter?

    i used to fight amateurs when i was 23. i am 28 now. after 5 years of fukcikng girls, drinking and working hard i am bored with life as partying and everty9ing esle i realized is lacking substance. i sparred for the first time in such a long time. my body is aching me, i have been runing this week, have a lot of cob webs. Most importantly, i realized during the sparring session that i am still very mentally sharp, as in i have not totally lost the tools. So i am REALLY considering devoting my life back training again and potentially doing a pro fight.

    Right, good on you for getting things back on trick

    I urge you not to go down the supplement route though. Following five years of being untrained, your body structures such as tendons, ligaments etc will be very weak. If you try to make gains in strength too quickly, your muscular strength will overpower that of your connective tissues and this will lead to some serious injuries. If this happens, you will have to spend a lot of time on the sidelines, and at 28, you can't afford this down time.

    First rule for you is don't jump back in at the deep end. You need to give your body time to rebuild itself for the amount of stress that you will put it under in future training sessions. Go steady and build up slowly. Don't fill yourself with supplements with a view to gaining strength, work capacity etc. Finally, start with a low volume of training, and increase the amount of time you train when your body tells you it can handle more.

    I'm going to do a thread about nutrition, if you don't mind I'll use some of of your posts. I'm not sure yet how to structure it, it needs to be simple. Rakim suggested a set of diet rules, but it's easy to get carried away.

    I don't mind at all - sounds like a really good idea. It seems like you have a lot of valuable information, and its cool that you are kind enough to share it. Diet isn't my strongest suite, but if there's anything I can do to help, you know where I am.
