Diaconu injured fight with Branco postponed

    A hand injury to the champion has caused the sudden postponement of the World Boxing Council Light Heavyweight Championship bout between WBC Champion Adrian Diaconu and mandatory challenger Silvio Branco scheduled for November 15th. Event promoter Chris Ganescu of Gankor Promotions said as soon as the extent of the injury is determined and a new date is set a formal announcement would be made. "Adrian is certainly disappointed, as this is to be his title defense, but these things happen in boxing. I'm working with OPI 2000 (Branco's promoter) to make this happen," said Ganescu from China at the WBC Annual Convention. Diaconu earned the Interim Title with a decision win over American Chris Henry in April and became Champion when Chad Dawson vacated[/FONT]

    Yep,heard it today mate.Altough my opinion is just that they want to postpone it to keep the fight at Bucharest,so they need time to raize the money.Don't think he is injured but it's just my opinion

    Sucks for Johnson. I'd like to see him get another title shot before it's too late.

    Diaconu either has major durability issues or, as thunder said, there's something else going on.

    Why does it suck for Johnson?He is fighting nov 11,I heard they will reschedule Diaconu vs Branco for december 6.It won't make a big difference really

    dec 6 probaly aint to bad but for a hand injury is that to quick of a recovery for a hand problem?? novemver 15 to december 6?? just wondering. if any longer why not make it johnson vs branco for the number 1 spot to face diaconu. give branco a fill in, johnson fights his fight then those two meet while diaconu if truely hurt has time to heal.

    The thing is it might not be a injury,just stalling for Ganescu to raize some money to keep the card in Bucharest.Branco has already been mandated by the WBC to Diaconu,as was Johnson.They will get thir chances one at the time.
