    This morning, I am sad.

An interesting matchup went down the drain. Dawson had until this morning (Midnight) EAST STANDARD TIME to answer the purse bid they lost the a Romanian based consortium and sign the contract for his MANDATORY defense against Adrian Diaconu.

In what would have been his highest payday to date, Dawson decided to chicken out under the pretense that it was because the fight was based in Romania.

After many months of trying to duck Diaconu, the WBC will finaly have to strip the ex-champion and give the belt to Diaconu.

Dawson proved how much respect he has for boxing with this move. As a young fighter, he should've stopped complaining about the matchup and given his mandatory a shot at the title. But he thought he was in the league of the Mayweathers, Pacquiaos and Calzaghes of this world and chose his adversaries without having to prove himself first.

    Nice ducking Dawson...

Le roi est mort, vive le roi.

I always though Dawson was a fraud but what I couldn't understand was that up until the Johnson fight everybody - especially the more seasoned posters here on ESB - loved the guy like he was the 2nd coming but then again I saw the very same people praise Peter until recently it just goes to show anyone can be caught up into the hype train.

I never considered either to be much cop to be frank.

Blah blah...His highest payday BULLSH*T. This fight was only going to bring Dawson 700,000k US. He will make twice that fighting Tarver who is also a better fighter and a bigger name then Diaconu, and he wont have to go to Romania to do it. this isnt even news..No one expected Dawson to fight Diaconu who really is a no-namer for a split of a 1.2 million US purse when there was a chance to split a 4.5 million US purse with Tarver:hi:

I cant imagine Dawson ducking Diaconu as a fighter. Glen Johnson was a lot more dangerous than Diaconu. Diaconu is nothing special, i think the reason Dawson is not fighting Diaconu is -> $

I think maybe you misread his post...I think that he was saying that Dawson thought he was one of those elite fighters. I dont think that he was saying anything bad about Pac.

Ducking? Yeah, I'm sure Chad watched Diaconu-Henry and it sent chills up his spine.

Some of this guys think that just because an ABC group calls someone number one that mean someone has to fight them. This fight makes no sense for Dawson at this point. 1)Its a small payday 2)its vs a nobody, that would bring nothing to Dawson after he won 3)It would halt his shot at Tarver which is the fight that Dawson has wanted for some time.

I think that Dawson showed that he wasnt scared to fight Diaconu by signing to fight him the first time, it wasnt his fault that Diaconu could make it to the fight.

Oh let me tell...Dawson ducked Diaconu by signing to fight him, then he ducked him again because Dawson kept that date and fought a replacement instead of not sitting around waiting on the injuried Diaconu. He then Ducked him again by fighting Johnson. So this will actaully be the fourth time that Dawson has ducking Diaconu..

No sh*t one of these guys actaully told me that...

Exactly. And I'm sure if a fight with Tarver wasn't currently on the table, he'd sign to fight Diaconu again.

lol..how can dawson be ducking, this is like people who said pac was ducking guzman when he fought marquez who was a better boxer and a more seasoned and experience veteran. Dawson fought johnson who is more dangerous than diaconu and now would be better off to unify against tarver. Makes more sense

If ever was there a time to "duck" Diaconu, it would have been last year when Adrian was coming off a performance where he looked like a monster against Rico Hoye. Not now when he's coming off lackluster performance against Chris Henry.
