I don't know where did you hear that 700K number my friend, but Dawson was to get exactly paid $1 088 000 for that fight. He always said that he would never go fighting in Romania for less than a million $$$. Now that the Romanian promoter brought the money on the table, he choked.

Anyway, do not worry the WBC is so full of **** that they will find another way to violate their own rules. Nobody here in Montreal believe one sec that Dawson will be stripped off. So, let's move on to the next chapter and bring Glen Johnson in Bucharest on Oct. 4.

Team Diaconu knew all along that Dawson would never agree to fight in Romania. IMO it's a cheap way to get a belt the fight should have been in MTL or the US. With that said Dawson-Tarver is a better fight anyway.

 

I couldn't agree more. Dawson needs to dump Gary SHaw and sign with a real promoter like GBP, King or Arum he's outgrown Shaw who only seems to care about that Elite XC bull**** now.

 

Yet these Diaconu groupies just don't get it.

Tarver is the bigger and better fight.

As a fan I want to see the biggest and best fights.

How can Dawson be ducking Diaconu? Like someone else said, Diaconu looked scary destroying Rico Hoye, but Dawson signed to fight Diaconu anyway. Dawson was never afraid of this guy. The fight was signed, set for September 2007. Diaconu is the one who backed out of the fight at the last minute because of some BS injury. He comes back from injury, fights Chris Henry, and looks awful.

Now, after Diaconu's worst performance ever, Dawson is ducking him? :rofl You're just a bunch of haters. Dawson could beat the snot out of this flat-footed one-dimensional plodding bum, even on the same night he goes 12 rounds with Tarver. That's how little I regard Adrian Diaconu, who should not be undefeated right now and should not be the WBC mandatory. That distinction belongs to Chris Henry.

A rematch btw Diaconu and Henry in the United States is the real fight to make.. hell, if you're gonna strip Dawson.. might as well order the Henry rematch and let the winner of that one become the WBC champ

No, the fact is that the Diaconu people KNEW that Dawson wouldn't goto Romania to defend his belt.

Now the division is a complete mess with Calzaghe being Ring champ (who will fight Jones as the only true LHW contender), Erdei not willing to put his linear title against anybody worthy, Dawson stripped and Diaconu with fringe belt awarded to him.

 

IMHO, the Diaconu - Henry fight was close but Diaconu won it. The only problem I have with the fight is that ****ing WBC rule about open scoring. Diaconu knew after 8 rounds that he only had to last the last 4 rounds to win the fight. It ruined the whole fight and gave Hanry a definite edge in the last 4 rounds. Reminds me of Mormeck - Bell II for those who saw it.
