I agree. Don't get me wrong, Diaconu is not a bum. Diaconu can bang. If anyone doesn't believe me check this brutal video of the Rico Hoye fight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9wlqLfPjzw
I hear that. Okay, my main point of contention with this has nothing to do with who I think would win. I haven't enough time to analyse it to give a proper prediction. To me, though, it's irrelavent. These kinds of fights should be happening. Two undefeated fighters proving themselves against each other with the winner moving on to bigger. Instead the belts get passed around like sweets with the same fighters getting the shots.
Have you even bothered to read the content of the five or so threads that the Diaconu fans have started? Dawson is a *****. Dawson is a thief. Dawson is a coward. Dawson is a ducker. Dawson got destroyed by Johnson. I agree with Cash. The Diaconu fans are ******ed. They're some of the worst fans I've encountered.
Then don't engage them. Simply reply to the worthwhile posts. If everyone on here resisted the temptation to get into petty squabbles with the childish morons on here this place would be a lot better. Back on topic, how do you feel about this situation? Do you think Dawson should keep his belt & save the unification with Tarver until later?
Boy, you like pickin' on me... The man was not 100% that night. He had a rough time making weight. Can't you see how Adamek immediately went from 175 to 200 lbs after that fight? WTF???!!!
To be frank, Dawson has bigger fish to fry than Diaconu. He is the best LHW in the world and another paper champ at 175 won't change a thing. Granted, Diaconu did deserve his shot, but let's not forget he pulled out of the first fight 2 weeks from fight night. This will all be fine and dandy if Dawson can secure a Tarver fight now.
Just a reminder, Dawson would beat the ever living **** out of Carl Froch, stopping him around the 9th after winning every single round. :good
Tarver is staring at retirement as we speak, is coming off a dominant performance against Woods, has a belt and I can envision a fight in Tampa putting 15 to 20thou butts in the Forum and doing good numbers PPV. If Dawson got percentages of PPV he stands to earn millions instead of a million. Diaconu is coming off a difficult victory against an unheralded fighter. Had no belt and no marquee names on his record. No slight against Diaconu but he's going to be around and can create bigger demand for a future fight with Dawson. Meanwhile hoping for a 40 year Tarver to be available for a fight that could be a year down the road is a risky gamble.
On the other hand, this post is way too biased in Dawson's favour. Did you see the fight, or are you just looking at boxrec? There was a 3 point swing in round 7, where Adamek was having his best round of the fight, but tripped on Dawson's foot (as the Showtime announcers pointed out) and it was incorrectly ruled a KD. You can also make a good case for Adamek sweeping rounds 10-12 (though only one judge gave him all 3). Hardly a dominating performance, all things considered it was rather competetive...and this was against a weight-drained version of Adamek.
I love how some of you always try to make everything anti-American. You wouldn't expect your fighters to goto America to fight a mandatory now would you? Let alone Romania. Didn't think so.
Hey look at it this way, from a Diaconu perspective, he might be fighting for three thirds in less than a year.
That "Elite" kid that you directed your comment to doesn't know what he's talking about...he just likes busting my balls, thata all. But you made alot of sense, Axe.:good He did agree with me one time, though, in the lounge when we were discussing the hypocracy in gov't. in this great (or should I say one time great) country of ours.
