that because its been going against your thoughts/opinions. Dawson clearly didnt duck Diaconu. Look you have to understand we arent excited about Diaconu. I have never once said that he was a crappy fighter. I have not seen enough of him to really make judgement. What Im saying is he hasnt done anything to warrent all this talk and space on the site that you and about two others seem to think. No one is interested in a guy that they have not seen fight. Diaconu is a prospect, and he won the right to get a title shot, but he didnt make it to the fight, now you seem to think that Dawson is ducking him because he didnt sit around and wait for this guy to come back from his injury. Dawson signed to fight him once, and will fight him should they both win there upcoming fight, and barring Dawson getting a fight with the winner of Calzaghe/Hopkins.
WHy does Dawson need to fight Diaconu now? Simply because he's a mandatory? He's only 25 and relatively unknown himself. If Diaconu seperated himself from the rest of the LtHW's, then you may have a point. But right now there are only a few big money makers @ 175. Dawson has plenty of time to fight one or two, and still take on all comers. Dawson is NOT bad for boxing no matter what you say.
Why are you still posting in threads about Diaconu? You are just bumping a thread on a subject you deem undeserving of attention! Dawson is ducking Diaconu; I explained why many times: Dawson would be avoiding Diaconu if he were just another guy who was calling Dawson out, who presented Dawson a worse risk/reward than what he could get otherwise. Dawson is not trying to avoid Diaconu. He is trying to DUCK Diaconu. He does this by REPEATEDLY REFUSING to comply with the repeated rulings of the WBC which require him to face Diaconu - his mandatory - by a certain date. He does that by REPEATEDLY trying to have the mandatory status of his MANDATORY challenger REVOKED. He doesn't just do his best to avoid Diaconu FOR NOW. He does his best to avoid him FOREVER. Given that Diaconu is his mandatory, doing your utmost to avoid him forever is as clear an attempt at ducking as any could ever be associated with the word. Dawson REPEATEDLY FAILS to comply with the rules imposed by the sanctioning bodies relating to fighting mandatory fighters, for no acceptable reason whatsoever, and he is allowed to get away with it because he is an American prima donna everyone is hoping to cash in on in future, if he proves as great as we all hope he is. He thinks he is too good to have the rules that are good for boxing applied to him; he thinks he is special. He thinks he IS ENTITLED to make as much money as possible whilst making a name for himself by polishing off these have-been American legends/legends known in America, WHILST keeping his belt and GETTING AWAY with not having to comply with the rules regulating the holding of the said belt. Well, guess what, buddy; he might be special in his own mind, but other people have a right to make money too; other people have a right to make a name for themselves too; other people have a right to get a shot at his title too. It is not the "Dawson's Boxing Championship"; it is the WBC; they have rules; we're always complaining those rules are bent to give a hyped up star an unfair advantage; why should we not complain when our favourite fighter is involved? Get real, buddy - Diaconu is a more than deserving mandatory. He EARNED that position according to the rules. Dawson HAS to fight him sooner or later, even if he is given a special treatment by the WBC, being American and a very good and all - but Diaconu wants his shot because he thinks he can beat him and because he wants that belt because he wants to cash in on it, like all title holders do. If Dawson doesn't like that, he should drop the belt and fight all the have been-names in the world for money and fame, but not with the WBC strap around his waist. Tarver is AVOIDING Dawson. Dawson is DUCKING Diaconu.
Yeah...because when you're 25 and still unproven, you need to fight mandatories, especially against unbeaten prime guys who have a chance of taking you out. It's too early for Dawson to deem himself too big to need to fight mandatories. If he still thinks he is too good for that, let him drop the belt and fight whomever he pleases. But if he wants to keep the belt, he needs to accept that there are rules that, can be bent to suit him once or twice, seeing that he is a promissing American fighter, but that cannot be broken. Dawson is not Calzaghe. Even Calzaghe got stripped for refusing to fight a mandatory, preferring the money/hype fight against Manfredo. Why should Dawson get away with the kind of stuff that Calzaghe didn't get away with?
He will most lilkey still face mandatories. He has a lot of time. There's no shame in trying to fight the big names who still carry weight in the division. You've been rather anti-Dawson for a while now. Why?:huh
Because I don't want him to go down the wrong path of easy defences. He demanded that the Mendoza fight be considered a mandatory defence, for example. I think he can beat Diaconu and that would prove more about his perceived weaknesses than a win over Johnson or Tarver would, right now. Dawson is the kind of guy that is already getting sucked into the big-money, big-hype game, before he's proven himself. It would be a loss to boxing. Also, if boxing is to work, guys that have earned mandatories, like Diaconu, need to get their shot. Yeah, exceptions can be made, like the Johnson fight, but demanding that Diaconu gets stripped of his mandatory status just because you don't like to bother fighting him, at this stage of your career, is scandalous. Who the **** does he think he is? Whom has he beaten? Adamek and Harding? Does that make him a top 5 p4p guy, so that he can demand to be placed above the law? Ridiculous! Dawson has a long way to go, if he is to really prove himself as one of the best. He can only do it by fighting the best. Diaconu is one of the people he has to fight. Ducking him is unacceptable - it would hurt his legacy considerably. It would turn him into a complete joke! That would be a shame for boxing.
You keep avoiding ONE simple thing.............DAWSON SIGNED TO FIGHT DIACONU. Why is it that you just refuse to admitt that. You dont duck someone by signing to fight them. Im starting to lose respect for you, its becoming pretty clear that you dont brother with facts. Dawson won the title and within six months he signed to fight this guy, its not Chads fault that Diaconu got hurt, and hasnt fought in almost a year, should Chad had just sit around and waited??? This makes NO sense, and you are turning into a guy that is wearing blinders, Dawson signs to fight Diaconu...Diaconu gets hurt...Your response...Dawson is ducking Diaconu.. Sad part is I think that you truly believe this:-(
You have no reason to assume he's going down the path of easy defenses. He's just not fighitng who you want. And he's NOT going top prove he's the best simpy by beating Diaconu. That distinction come with SEVERAL wins.
Mate...Dawson signed to fight Diaconu because he couldn't get Tarver and because the WBC were putting the pressure on him! Had Tarver said YES, Dawson would have done what he did with Johnson - completely ignored what the WBC demanded - that he fight his mandatory Diaconu - and fought Tarver instead. But Tarver told him to **** off! So...what was he to do...he signed to fight Diaconu. Then, after Mendoza, when Diaconu came back and was reinstated as mandatory, Dawson tried to argue that he had already fough his mandatory in Mendoza; he should never be forced to fight Diaconu again. Why? Because he had other plans. So the WBC told him to get on with it - to fight Diaconu - the mandatory. Dawson ignored the ruling and signed up to fight Johnson. The WBC tried a second time = OK, we'll let you fight Johnson first, but you need to fight Diaconu by the 15 th of March! Dawson agains ignored their ruling and decided to fight Johnson in April!!! The WBC, ignored twice now, put its foot down and threatened to stip him. So he flew to Mexico to spend two whole days outside the WBC President's house, begging him to let him in so that he could have a word. He started crying saying he needs to feed his family, that he is desperate, that if he's stripped it's the end of him, etc.etc, so the President felt sorry for him, and for the third time, bent the rules in his favour - he'd be allowed to fight Johnson in April with the belt on the table. But guess what...even after all of that, Dawson had the cheek to ask for Diaconu to be stripped of his mandatory status AGAIN! The President told him to **** off; I'm surprised he didn't change his mind to strip him there and then... ...Hopkins was forced to sign a contract that - get this - that he would respect his contractual obligations to the WBC and that he'd fight Diaconu, if the latter beat Henry to become Interim Champ! In other words, he was forced to sign a contract saying he would respect the contract he had broken 3 times already, with the WBC!!!atsch Anyway, after all of that, in his recent interviews, he still says that his next fight after Johnson will be the winner of Woods v. Tarver, or RJJ - not even the slightest hint of Diaconu!!! Despite the latest contract etc. So what am I to believe? He has been ducking him so far and I won't be surprised if he continues to duck him after Johnson...but this time he WILL get stripped...4 times to **** the WBC off would be too much!
Of course he wouldn't prove he's the best by beating Diaconu. But beating Diaconu would prove more than beating his proposed mandatory - Mendoza! Not least, because of Diaconu's style, a win against him would prove more than would a win over everyone outside of his performance over Adamek! Diaconu fight will prove his chin and whether he has his wits about him for 12 full rounds, because if Diaconu drops him, he WILL finish him. This is why this fight is so important for Dawson to go through with. It's a bit like Bute's fight against Andrade - the kind of style that can be his undoing - at this stage in their career, they HAVE to fight these fights to prove themselves. Johnson/Tarver fight doesn't prove what he needs to prove. Diaconu fight does. So, he needs to beat Diaconu and then prove himself against the experienced guys like Woods v. Tarver winner or RJJ...but Diaconu needs to come first, not least because he is the mandatory, and has been for almost 6 months now...
No, they have to fight PERIOD to prove themselves. Diaconu will STILL be there if Dawson fights Wood or Tarver.
He will...with the WBC belt around his waist. Dawson is getting stripped if he doesn't fight Diaconu within 120 days of Diaconu becoming Interim Champ, if he beats Henry, that is. This time, the rules cannot be bent in favour of Dawson. So...unless he fights three fights in 6 months...he'll have to face the winner of Diaconu v. Henry next, if he beats Johnson.
What makes you think Dawson is ducking Diaconu? Diaconu pulled out of their fight with injury apparently. Dawson was ready to go.
If he gets stripped he gets stripped. Which is even a better reason to take a big money fight now, when he can. AT least he'll be compensated.
